Smatresk AD history shows leaving interim AD in place

Smatresk hired a female AD at UNLV as his last AD hire.  She was originally their interim AD and came from within the department.

This entire AD staff outside of Reggie Johnson reeks of complacency and underachievement. I hope history doesn't repeat itself with Smatresk. We need new blood to come in and clean house

This is a concern for me because the exact same pattern (appoint interim from within, make them permanent) has happened with the Provost* position and others on campus.  

I want a fresh new perspective and energy to be put in place.

 

*Just to be clear I think the new provost is doing a good job, but he came from a culture (COBA) that wasn't fundamentally broken.

What happened to the guy before her? It's unusual for an assistant to get the main job when the head 'guy' was fired. Administration is a bit different since an assistant may have been hired to be waiting in the wings...

She has been a disaster.  They are ready to running rebel her out of Vegas due to her handling of the basketball hire this year.  No Pitino no arkie little rock coach now New Mexico State ex head man leads the rebels this fall. Unlv had to go wac to get their coach.  Fans not happy.  He may do well as he has lon Kruger ties but Smastrek is smarter than to not fumigate that building.

A new broom sweeps clean. I am guessing changes in Athletic Department are coming, especially if we hire an experienced A.D. who would probably bring some of his own people in.

Surely the Southern Miss contingent will be out, which means Batchelder and Adams are out.

Anyone that was hired by RV should be out, so that means Capper, Nitardy, Hobbs, Sheffield, and Nagel are out.

If they have been in the AD for over 20 years and haven't been hired away, then there is probably a reason for that.  Sorry, but Dickenson and Ashbaugh have to go.

That only leaves Patty Wells in terms of RV direct reports.  Sorry Patty, you are also out.

I'm fine with all of those... except Cinnamon.   Would be nice to keep at least one familiar face around to bridge the gap for the student-athletes.  Why not one they know well & who has produced?

This CANNOT happen at UNT. If it's anyone from inside the current AD, it will be an unmitigated disaster!
