Just so we're all clear, just what exactly did you "do"?

On this board? If you don't know, you weren't paying attention. On message all the time. You know, the stuff you made fun of me for.

This is strictly in context of this message board. And I'm aware that many think it didn't matter, but those guys weren't the target audience. Did it matter? Don't care, for whatever reason RV has left the building. That's the important thing.

I wish RV the best in his future endeavors. My issues with him were purely based on the lack of success we have endured and scheduling. Under RV's leadership UNT was able to open some great facilities, and move up during college realignment. Those accomplishments need to be respected. Rick should take pride in getting those things done under his leadership. If the university named the athletic building after him, I'd have no problem with it.

I hope our university makes a great hire with our next AD. Now is not the time to be cheap. We need to get the best person we can. Even if they aren't available. If we need to raid a program perceived to be higher up on the food chain, even better.

The banner was probably about the last reason he's gone.

You are on the wrong side of history, Munthe. Not surprising.

This doesnt happen without the banner:

Neither does this:

http://ntdaily.com/north-texas-fans-raise-money-to-fly-anti-villarreal-banner-at-home-game/

Nor does this national mention:

http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/14328380/the-miami-hurricanes-fans-flew-banners-got-al-golden-fired

Or this:

http://ntdaily.com/fire-rick-villarreal-banner-flies-over-campus/

What morons like you don't get is it was never about the actual flying of the banner, it was about the publicity and resulting pressure that publicity would put on the decision makers of UNT.

It was the most effective $1900 spent in the last 2 years of UNT athletics.

Whether former AD employees like you understand that or not.

I should not have to point out that this would be the WRONG time to cast aspersions on the banner or on the primary, determined and now successful champion of it and of a cause that desperately needed to happen.

As with most people, he definitely didn't do everything right, but I do appreciate the stuff he did accomplish.  That said, it really is time to reinvigorate things and shake everything up and take the next step, so I do think it's a good thing.  He seemed to kind of be on cruise control in some areas for a while now, and we need some more energy as well as consistency in areas like info and marketing...and winning.

I'm not sure how this would go over, but it would be a huge name for UNT..

Mack Brown from UT...

I know he has not been and AD before, but there was a time people at UT and around the country thought he would get promoted when he decided to stepped down/quit/ retired...

I would like someone that has experience and a track record for turning around an entire AD, but not sure how much UNT is willing to pay and even if an AD that fits that profile would even come to UNT, but a big name like Mack could help us bring more attention and could help with recruiting for football as well since Mack is known as a great recruiter but I'm not sure how the other sports would feel.

omg I am floored. It sucks now cause I did not budget for season tickets. I wrote fire RV on the last renewal notice I received and mailed it in. If I known it was magic I would have wrote Conference Champion on it. Lol

Isn't Mack an ESPN guy?   I'm sure he's being paid handsomely for very little work.  I don't think he'd want to take a pay cut to rebuild an AD.
