We may have at the most 4 games on TV this year. So, with that in mind, our athletic department will have more control than usual over kickoff times. Please, for the love of God, do not schedule games regardless of opponent at 11 or 2:30 unless TV dictates. Prime example is Bethune Cookman. There is no way that game touches a television set. I just do not want the athletic department to think they are too big time to start that game at 6PM. The first 2 games of the year SHOULD be premium kickoff times that better serve the fans rather than TV contracts. So here's to that.

So true. Laziness reigns supreme

As a person that doesn't live remotely close to attend the home games anymore. This is disheartening....

Well, when you suck in a 7/8th ranked FBS conference out of 10 that's just the way it is. @Florida & @Army are locks. CbsSports will probably pick up 1 of our home games either vs La Tech or Marshall. So Miss/smut might get us to 4.

When you are the worst team in the country the previous year, that's just the way it is.

Yeah. The abive mentioned games that may or may not be on TV has nothing to do with North Texas. If North Texas was playing North Texas that game would be on TV 0/10 times. Our opponent's and their early season success (or lack thereof) will dictate how many times we really end up on television. But again, @Florida & @Army are our surefire locks to be televised. Which brings this convo full circle as to why there should be 0 11:00 or 2:30 kickoffs.

AGREE, AGREE, AGREE.

Someone said it but SMU needs to be 6pm so the heat has somewhat died off and people have had enough time to get rough and rowdy from tailgating all day.

Beth C- No reason to have it any earlier than 2:30, that and I guarantee its a HC game so you have to have that at 6 for all the days activities

MTSU- 6pm, even though its OCT, its still hot as hell in TX

Marshall- 6PM, same weekend as TX/OU. Last year we scheduled Portland St at 4PM the same day as the Red River Shoot out and our attendance was S Rotten. Yes we did get our asses kicked but still poor scheduling and TV had nothing to do with it

LA Tech- It is now November and hopefully the heat has gone back to its home with Satan and a 2:30-3:00 start is fitting

The Sweater Kat's Home Team USM- 2:30

It was announced about a week ago that homecoming was LaTech.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say, nothing like getting your teeth kicked in, in front of all the old Alumni. Its a good way to stir up support

Duuuuuuuuuuuude.....

6pm on September 3rd means there's still an hour and a half of daylight. Hot, scorching, Sun directly in the eyes of the entire student side of the stadium daylight.

There's a reason high schools have started scheduling games for 7:30 pm kickoffs at the beginning of the season. It doesn't start to actually cool off until like 8 pm or later, depending on how insanely hot the stadium got during the day and how much it's radiating that heat right onto everyone.

Other than TV, what are the arguments against a 7/8pm kickoff in September/October?

There are no legitimate one's. Rick might try to be "big time" and schedule our "cupcake" opponent like most bluebloods do, at 11 or 230. Kinda how he wanted to be "big time" when he extended a coach that no one wanted because of 1 decent season. A 230 kickoff would not surprise me. Kind of how standing outside the pit yesterday waiting for a shuttle after my wife's graduation and seeing an April 23rd Spring Game being advertised on the coliseum electronic sign didn't surprise me. Thousands of people to market to and they (they = athletic department) sucked something fierce...again. Pitiful.

I know that TV has been bringing us much needed money, but it's also brought us 11AM kickoffs and Tuesday afternoon games.  I'm going to look at the bright side on this and hope that we schedule accordingly when the television suits aren't demanding otherwise.  That was the one great thing about the Sun Belt days.  Kickoffs were always at night.

I think you have now seen enough proof as to why we tried telling you so many years ago that you will come to realize just how much more you will care about winning in football or basketball than the university does. I remember feeling the same way in the late 90s and throughout the 00's, always wondering why older alumni would never come around for a game and just didn't care one iota about our teams. But it was prime examples like promoting an April 23rd Spring Game on May 14th that served as a perfect description of "Only at North Texas"...

Yeah, all I could do and just shake my head at it while asking myself, "how?"
