There are a few ways out of the money games for North Texas. First and most importantly, more people need to come to every single game, regardless of the opponent. The "Who is North Texas playing?" mentality has to stop. We need to be putting 25,000 or more in Apogee for every single game. It would help if we can get recognizable opponents to come to Apogee but again, people must show up regardless of who the opponent is.

Do all this and still do a 1.3m game nice paycheck for one UNT game!

There's no way we'd be able to have a game where the opponent pays us for them to come to Apogee.  It's just doesn't happen.

Apparently teams like Kansas State, Baylor, TCU, and TT preferred Fouts over Apogee.

Heck, we have 1/2 of Fouts still standing.   Let's bring 'em in.  If they want to play at Fouts, that's cool with me!

For the sports challenged that think we should just wait for RV to retire, this is why that is an EXTREMELY bad idea. The Hattiesburg Hustler is affecting things years down the road RIGHT NOW through his terrible leadership and awful scheduling.

It seems RV's friendship is more important than anything UNT athletics related to a whole lot of people. Sad

Are we the only one playing a money game? Majority of schools are. I guess this could be a 1.3m dollar mistake!

No, UNT is the only ones getting no return games from any P5s and losing at home 66-7 to FCS schools that your hero schedules.

That's who UNT is, my friend.

Well, UNT hosts a perennial power FCS school this year who has won conference titles 5 of the last 6 years in Butt Cookman and whores themselves to Florida this year.

Coming years? One whore game and one FCS game with no P5 home game.

So that IS who UNT is for the foreseeable future.

Amen - my hope is that in the future some of these games that look like paychecks turn out to be competitive contests and wins.

If you expect me not to comment about what a terrible game scheduler the Hattiesburg Hustler is in a thread about another whore game with a SEC team, well, you just don't know me at all.

It wouldn't be as terrible if we went and got smothered by Alabama, then came home with a million dollars and played competitively (win) against a Colorado or someone similar.

Or hell, Indiana since they've been willing in the past.

Yep.

Instead we get a 5 home game season with a 66-7 loss to an FCS

Missouri may suck in 5 years. Happens all the time.

Will they even have a team then?  Or will they be threatening to boycott also?

The selling point in building what would become Apogee was bringing in big name opponents and concerts.  Right or wrong, this simply has not happened.  We still schedule next to impossible to win road games and our home schedule may be worse than it was at Fouts.

If our fan base would buy season tickets, the need for money games would decrease.  Look in your check registry.  If there aren't checks written to North Texas Athletics for Mean Green Club memberships and season tickets, you've found the majority of our troubles.

When you look at the schedules for other schools, the vast majority are now scheduling for the early 2020s. The problem isn't scheduling a single P5 away game a year - it's scheduling two or more. That hurts our W-L record even in good years and causes too many away games.

As for the amount of payment, the amounts appear to change based on length of time out and exactly who is being scheduled. Everyone pays more for games that are happening sooner as everyone needs to fill out their schedules. Secondly, the perennial payoff contenders (or teams that think they are likely contenders like Texas) pay more. So, you can make more money in theory if you wait till the last minute to schedule but you are far more likely to get stuck with two P5 road games and/or a terrible schedule like 12 games in a row. Plus, the P5s that have more ups and downs and thus a better chance of a competitive game for us simply aren't available.

All of the above considered, this game with Mizzu could be a good get or a bad get - it depends of the other games we have that year. Unless the goal is to go back to alternating OU, Texas, Alabama and whomever else is the National Champion the year before, scheduling 7 to 10 years out is the way to go.

This was specifically stated to me before I purchased club seats. It was an outright lie, and it was propogated by the Hattiesburg Hustler. Yet he is still there, still telling lies, and still getting $375k a year to do it.

Only at UNT.

The home schedule is worse than Fouts. Fouts didn't see any FCS teams, at least in the days I was there. K St and Baylor >>>> crappy Indiana. Air Force=Army.

Again, how is the Hattiesburg Hustler still hustling??

Your excuse making for RV knows no bounds. The Hattiesburg Hustler "holding out for a better deal" wasn't the reason for the 2015 schedule. Stop trying to create revisionist history. I told you 2015 was coming in 2012. In January of 2015 UNT had one open home date, and 2 whore games on the books that had been there for years (Iowa and Tennessee). There was also a road game at SMU that the Hattiesburg Hustler absolutely planned on marketing as an alternate home game. KRAM even floated the idea on here for his buddy.

The Hattiesburg Hustler told us that N. Arizona backed out of an opening day game, causing him to schedule Portland St. That was a lie (shocked face here). N. Arizona was contacted and they had no F'n clue what RV was talking about because they had zero discussion with UNT. Just a hustler hustling.

So don't come on here and try to rewrite history.
