Here is .my guess. They will be back, if not this year next, but with a different look

All camps will be hosted by P5 Conferences, not the individual schools.

They (The P5) will allow coaches from the G5 and other conferences to attend and scout

Just my guess ....

That or maybe restrict them to their own states or contiguous states.

This makes much more sense.

Having everyone in OH drive about 2 hours max to Columbus isn't asking too much.
Having people drive 5 hours (Dallas) or 8 hours (Houston) to Lubbock, TX. is often too difficult.

Or, allow an additional "official visit" so the school can help pay for folks to attend these camps on their campus.

And in classical big state/small state compromise it would allow schools to hold camps nearby but avoid the Michigan antics that may have precipitated the current ruling.

I actually like the big schools hosting camps and small schools being able to come through and see kids, most of the time the UT, ATM, Baylor etc are looking at 15-20 guys MAX that show up to their camp, the other 500-600 are not going to get a look by the big school, thats where smaller schools can really do some recruiting damage.  Everyone who is anyone wants to go to those big schools and will try like crazy to make it there.

Or they could give a radius that the camp has to fall in. Basically gives any school the ability to put on a camp, but not go across the country to do so.

This was already happening in the Big 10 with Ohio State and MAC schools.

Honestly, I'm fine with them doing away with camps. This isn't 1975 or even 2000 for that matter. If there is a good prospect somewhere, he will be found.

Get rid of all off campus camps. If a school is interested in a guy send him an official visit invite and see him there. Camps make things too corporate and too easy for the P5 to cherry pick. This kind of forces them to do their due diligence and not have kids drive or fly themselves to whatever camp located at whatever location just to throw themselves at coaching staffs like a groupie at a party.
