I'm a little surprised that Kaydon Kirby won't be back because he was at the first scrimmage on April 2; sitting in front of where the linemen were doing their agility drills. But, I certainly don't know his personal situation. All I know is that he has been a surprise and a blessing for the years that he has participated.

My prayers are with Kaydon and his family. I lost my dad when I was 21. I was in the service at the time and regretted that I didn't have the time to spend with my mom during her grief.

It's very surprising if he has left the game for good. Life goes on regardless of the inevitable heart breaks that we all have to endure. I sure hope that he ends up doing what is right for him and his family.

Kirby has been a starter since his Freshman year, right? Four year starter at center could have given him an opportunity to be drafted into the NFL. I'm sure he made the right decision for him and his family.

Yep. We don't know his situation. If it was simply an emotional response after his father's death then his mind could change just as quickly once he's had time to process things. However, there could be other factors we aren't aware of that may be part of this decision. In my mind until fall practices start I'll hope he's back. If he doesn't come back he can be proud of all that he's accomplished. For all those kids who don't get scholarships coming out of high school they can look at him and see what can be be done..
