Just for the record, SFA, Eastern Washington, Missouri State and Montana State are FCS schools. Scheduling FCS schools as many P5 schools do isn't the problem it's NOT getting OCC FBS schools at home that's the problem.

Tech isn't going to play us because we have a funny way of beating them when we shouldn't. Additionally, they have very little to gain by coming to Apogee, they already play at Amon Carter in Fort Worth every other year and at Jerry World every year.

Getting K-State(again), Kansas, Mizzou, Colorado, Indiana(again), or similar may be our best bets to get a P5 into Apogee.

I hope some fans realize when these schedules are made, it's not the G5 schools that are initiating the agreement.  A lot of times the P5 school is going out and looking for easy victories to schedule.

Memphis has UTSA and UNT on their schedule.  Coincidence?  Nope.

I was making a joke. I know they're FCS :)

This is a good move for UTEP and Tech. Keep in mind Tech's medical school is in El Paso along with a lot of alum's in the area.

Also, UTEP will draw around 50,000 for the Tech game.  If we could somehow get them scheduled home and home we might draw half of that.

For the really old, they have a long history which goes back to their Border Conference days.

I suspect we would easily sell out Apogee with TT. Especially if we were half way decent. Too bad we're not likely to find that out for a decade or two at best.

When did Memphis become a P5 school?  Guess I missed that

You made a mistake trying to call out my mistake...Memphis has always been a G5 school.  You meant P5.

Either way, fans think these G5 schools are going out and doing some great negotiating, and that's not how it works.

The big schools have the upper hand and they do most of the initiating. And history proves my point, when the big schools back out of playing when the lower school may make the game more competitive than they originally thought.

My point about memphis was that it seems like they initiated scheduling us.  Especially the way it was announced.

The G5 schools are at the mercy of the top schools when it comes to scheduling.  They are trying to get the advantage.  They want an easy win, just like UNT  wants when they schedule idaho and Bethune cookman.  (Cant say portland state)

UTEP Smackdown 2.0! Fat UTEP fans can brawl with each again, get beaten by the tough old guy, blame Tech fans that weren't involved, and further embarrass their school and El Paso!!! Great news!

So true.  An employee of mine is a Tech alum, along with her husband.  They went to the Tech/UTEP game in El Paso two years ago, and she stated that they will never go back because of the fans and the lack of security.

Sorry, it's hard to tell who is joking and who is serious around here lately.

That is no lie.  Have you watched all the mic'd up series we are doing?> They are gold

It was brought up here earlier, but playing Tech here is a pipe dream. They play Baylor every year in the Metroplex, plus they get a game every other year in FW against TCU.

Your only Big XII teams that could be had by a decent AD would be OSU, KSU, KU, and ISU. OSU and KSU would be nice gets for football fans in the area, while KU and ISU wouldn't really move the needle much, like playing Indiana here in 2011.

I still think Mizzou and Colorado would be open to games here, too, but not with the current AD.

If/when SMU buys out out series, it will be so interesting to see who ends up replacing them. It won't surprise me one bit to hear RV blaming SMU for our scheduling issues in the years ahead, the way he did Tulsa.
