Charging money to attend the meetings?  Really?  Who's dumb idea was that?  Not enough people attend to amount to much money.  Make it free and you'll probably earn back more in donations than if you charged.  Just a really dumb idea.

Come on now. A mere $10 to be in the presence of such coaching legends as Tony Benford and "Coach" Villarreal?

I mean. Who could resist.

5:30 PM on 7th street in Fort Worth? What major I-35W construction, right?

Actually, this is 5 minutes from my work. It's targeted at Tarrant County alums, not Denton or Dallas.

Problem is I'd rather have all my toenails pulled out with a pair of pliers before having to attend this, much less PAYING to attend this.

If you don't want to pay, go to the free venues. If you don't mind paying for a little different vibe, pay.

It is like some people go to clubs without a cover (recorded music) vs those that have live music. Choose. Go. Or don't.

North of 820 is also Tarrant County.

And situated right between Denton and Fort Worth. Can't have one everywhere.

Look at me defending the AD...

Y'all are skipping over the most important part of this announcement:

Beth Marie's ice cream will be served, and there will be a bounce house.

I'll be sure to hurry on over before it gets soft.

All of us "RV admirers" could chose one of the stops that most of us can attend, and when RV gets up there to speak, we all put these on......  mWZjtC6RbN7Le7u9dc-G_9A.jpg

Or just turn around and walk out en masse. I mean, if there is 5 of us, that would be half the room.

I have some thoughts about the Coach's Caravan.

I think these could be a wonderful opportunity to meet fans and possibly sell season tickets.  I've been to many and I find the Athletic Dept staff tends to cluster together.  Instead of making small talk with the attendees they stand or sit together and rehash the day's activities.

I'd also like to hear something that I can only get from attending.  I don't need to hear about rings, or past accomplishments, or a vacation someone had with a single person in the crowd.

As far as charging, I don't have a problem with this.  Many of our fans don't really support the program.  They attend when given a ticket (ie "does anyone have an extra ticket to this week's game").  We've got plenty of those kind of "fans."  Charging for events like the CC keep the tire kickers away.  Perhaps then charge the non-supporters and let Mean Green Club members in for free.  This might be incentive for more to join the MGC.

These events cost someone money.  Inviting the entire world won't bring in any more fans nor money to the NT Athletic Dept.  If I want to go,. $10 won't keep me away.  If I'm looking for free shrimp and crackers, maybe I should look elsewhere.

This year is more of a mixer than a presentation as in past years. A few minutes of speaking followed by the coaches mingling, so arriving late doesn't mean you'll really miss anything. That knowledge makes the early start time in Ft. Worth much easier to handle.

Never been to one of these things.  I went to something in July of 2013 once where Mac talked about his rings and Iowa a bunch, and that was about it.

If I've already made my annual donations, and I've already bought my tickets, then there's really nothing to sell me on, and isn't selling memberships and tickets the ultimate goal of these things?
