This problem went way beyond the football program. One girl in one of the stories said she was raped by a dude on the debate team. This isn't a football problem, this is a Baylor problem.

According to the US Justice Department, it's a problem at most universities. They haven't look at at any coeducational university yet that is doing enough to protect its women students.

Everyone needs to back off believing everything they read on the Internet.

Or we could just repeat the Duke Lacrosse scandal. Wouldn't that be grand?

Oh you're right.

We'll just stop believing that a Baylor basketball player killed another and they tried to keep it hush.

And that they there are females out there that get raped by athletes but that programs will squash it because they can't stand the embarrassment and threat to their financial windfalls with that type of news getting out.

But yeah because of a few isolated instances of liars looking to capitalize we should not believe what we hear on the INTERNETS.

Weren't there at least two convictions for sexual assault involving Baylor football players?

Even if the other allegations are less certain, this situation seems to have more real facts than the Duke case.

True. Even the case of the guy raping a guy in an smu parking garage had a lot more documented facts than the Duke case.

There's benefit in lying on both sides, and profit to be made by publicity.

Duke isn't the only case

I don't want to discredit this Baylor situation, but neither do I wish to blindly jump over the ledge and crucify an entire institution, and believe me, I'm no fan of this particular institution.  

The current environment would have me scared shitless to merely be a 20 year old male on any given college campus today.  

Women face real fears and danger.  They also are brought up to magnify those fears and dangers.  

Men are taught that they are inherently a danger to women.

Something has gone horribly, horribly awry out there.

Baylor took a kid in who was kicked out of Boise State for similar reasons. Dude's a habitual offender... I'd say the history speaks for itself.

Look, just because one player is convicted in a totally seperate incident, it doesn't mean the allegations against a second or third player are true. It depends on the independent facts in each seperate case. 

The group think of "well, one of them did it, so they all must do it" is eerily similiar to the group think of "Those damn rich white kids think they can just take what they want, of course they are guilty," which prevailed in the Duke Lacrosse team's incident. 

Look at the facts of each individual case. On their own. Otherwise you could end up screwing up lives because of a lie.

I'm still shaking my head over the concept of any institution being allowed to assess the situation before involving law enforcement. And this doesn't just apply to Baylor. One of our state agencies, CPS, does investigations, but they are NOT allowed to internally assess whether or not law enforcement should get involved in the case. Law enforcement is called in any case where there is allegations of harm to a child. And the investigation is teamed and/or the local Police and/or DA can say "no need for our involvement". But it's their call.

When any student is alleging that she/he has been raped, I don't understand why local police and the local DA are not involved from the very beginning.

      If I was Coach Hodge, I would have this blown up and posted in the locker room. I would tell the players that this is what people think of you and we need to go out and dominate every team defensively until people start putting some respect on our name. Then when people do start to put some respect on our name, we need to dominate teams some more to leave no doubt.

      I think this is a cop-out. He’s been doing this crap since the beginning of his tenure. The first memorable time was against Navy last year on the first drive of the game from the 1. If in the 5th game of year 1 he was already feeling like he needed to score every drive because of the defense, that's an even bigger problem. I think not having a reliable kicker or punter is the main problem. He went for the points a few times early this season and it didn't work out. Same with some punts that just don't do a good job at flipping the field. I've mentioned in other threads that special teams has also been a problem. Evans is 89th in the country in average punt yardage. We have to have a short kicker and a long kicker. Who the eff does that at this level? That's two coordinators that Morris flopped out on. I'm just waiting on us to move on from Svobada at season's end. Was looking over his profile and I didn't know but he also has Tight Ends this year. Where have the Tight Ends been lately??
