I'd say you have a point except that our "athletic qb" had a shorter longest rush and worse yards per carry than DT for that same game. DT ran a 4.7 coming out of HS. I doubt very seriously that McNulty was any faster. R

RUSHING  No.  Gain  Loss  Net  TD  Lg  Avg.
Dunbar, Lance   18  74  12  62  16  3.4
Thompson, Derek  45  41  11  4.6
McNulty, Andrew  11  10  2.7
Hamilton, James  3.0
Byrd, Brandin   3.0
TEAM   -2  -2.0
Totals...  34  139  21  118  16  3.5

This is getting a little silly.  As you pointed out, McNulty's longest would have been longer, but that stupid ol' goal line got in the way.  Based on those stats, DT was a better per carry runner than Lance Dunbar as well.  And I'd be somewhat suspect of that 40 time as well.

It was generally understood that McNulty was more of a running QB; DT was more of a passing QB.  Look at their cumulative stats for the 2011 season--per snap, McNulty ran far more often than DT.

If McNulty would have been stopped at the 1, no one would try to make this goofy argument.

The only reason McNulty was understood as more of a running QB is because that was the line of bull the head coach fed us. McNulty likely ran more often because of the noodle attached to his shoulder and the head coach wanting to disquise his lack of throwing ability. BTW, Scout show DT having a verified 4.6 40. Strangely, Mini's scout page doesn't even show a 40.

Derek Thompson is a great QB that will compete for playing time this fall. Big proto type QB, 6-4, 200, very strong arm, very accurate, and does not get sacked much because of his strength. Very good runner too.

Andrew McNulty - pro-style QB from Iowa City, Iowa.....He's listed as a "pro-style" QB but rushed for 1,137 yards and 14 TDs (the leading RB had 1,350 rushing yards and 21 TDs), while passing for an additional 1,438 and 12 TDs (5 INTs). Those stats would seem to indicate a dual-threat QB to me.

I just don't think we're going to agree on this one, @Cr1028, and I think that's pretty rare.  I think we're both in agreement that we're glad to move on to a new era, and I'm ready to move on from this conversation.  See ya around, bud.

I'm good with that. Kinda sux that the first touchdowns in both Fouts and Apogee were scored by non-Texans though.
