Or that the past coaching staff were only interested in giving only those who they recruited a shot, and if successful, the coach gets a recruiting "gold star." By having not recruited the current players, save the ones brought in this year, this is the upside of a whole new group of coaches coming in who do not have any ties to previous recruits. Only time will tell. At least this staff appears to be willing to give all the players opportunity to compete which is all one can ask either as a player or fan.

And this is exactly the point I've always made........or tried to make. Give everyone an even chance.

My wish list.

At some point I would like a detailed write up about Dillman that explains how in hell it was that he went from a top nationally recruited high school QB to back up tight end.  And more specifically how both the DISD's DEC and the UIL's DEC in Austin came to the conclusion to deny his high school transfer eligibility?

There's got to be a great/not-so-great story why suddenly...three years after being highly recruited as a HS QB he's no longer a possible QB candidate in any college coach's eye?

Didn't Shanbour have an injury last year that contributed to his lack of practice reps?

Yes he did, turf toe.  It can be a pretty serious issue.  Glad to hear he is healthy again.

Simple, they ruled that he moved in for athletic purposes.

That never results in Southlake or Aledo players being ruled  ineligible.

You know, it seems to me that the current coaching staff may agree with all of you regarding the QB situation as it looked when they arrived. They then took action to correct the situation as best they could. As a result, the two most game experienced QB's are no longer on the team. And the remaining candidates, in their opinion, have the best potential. I'm a little disappointed that BV limited his assessment of Shanbour to his physical stature. If Morris purely throws the ball better than Shanbour, then that's cause for real excitement. Because of the QB candidates last year, and based on throwing drills only, (IMHO) Shanbour had the best, and most accurate arm of all of them.

I'll try and get out there tomorrow and see how they all look to me.

I am hearing they are very high on Shanbour.  It seems his turf toe issue last year was very serious and that explains why he was not in the mix.  Morris is still "the guy" but I do believe their belief in Shanbour's ability helped their willingness to part ways with DaMarcus.

Sorry guys. Couldn't get to the practice. I went on a flavored water (aquaball) hunt for my granddaughter. Her latest round of chemo was particularly hard on her and her only request was for "aquaball".....which just about every store in town is out of.

You definitely had a more urgent mission than attending a football practice.  If I could have helped, I would have dropped what I was doing to make sure that girl got her aquaball, whatever that is.

Sorry to hear about your granddaughters cancer and difficult chemo treatments. Prayers for her recovery.

Ditto to what Lifer said.  I hope and will pray the treatments are effective.

Very kind of you (and everyone). The treatments seem to be. They tested her extensively a month ago and couldn't find any cells anywhere. What is going on now is beating the dead horse treatments.

Wish I lived closer so I could attend the scrimmage tomorrow.  We could ask everyone to bring aquaballs for Silver's granddaughter.
