UNT has zero proven commodity at QB.

You could also say that about half of the FBS teams out there.

I wont say Morris is the most accurate QB we've had. I think everyone should just chill about the QB situation till SMU. We wont find out a thing till then.

Its no use in praising or slamming one specific player.

I do believe the system and coaches will improve the situation at QB dramatically from the past 2 years.

I won't say that either. Just in ages.

But what's the point of sports without hso's?

Still while being chased out of the pocket, and pressured. Otherwise drives stall and he doesn't get another chance to play.

Better form and accuracy than McNulty, Means, and Chumley. That's very easy to see, which allows me to say he is "likely" the more accurate QB. And why I said that it may not be saying much.

In both accounts yes, I can tell that I am more accurate than Chumley, and yes I can tell that Chumley needs to move to receiver.

But will he step into a throw under pressure or bail and throw off the back foot, which obviously affects not only accuracy, but velocity? The Josh Greer reference is perfect.

I'm not saying the Morris get won't be a good one, but I don't think we should assume anything until we see how he responds to getting pounded by an SMU 290lb defensive tackle.

Where would you move Chumley? Everyone else wanted him as w tight end. UNT doesn't use a TE.

I suspect this will be his last semester at UNT.

Hey you often have some really good points on here. Im not saying to have HSO's. Im just saying that everyone should stay away from HSO on our QB situation. Especially after the past two years.

He's a pocket climber and mover. McNulty was not, DSmith was not. Throws on the move well, can place it between defenders. In terms of his throwing mechanics, my biggest knock is sometimes he spreads his legs a little too wide. That can have an affect on his deep ball causing it to sail a smidge (fingertip catches). But in the short and intermediate range he's got a pretty ball, with arc, and has good touch on outside throws and over the middle. Can throw it over LBs in coverage over the middle.

Dude, he can throw to the outside. I don't remember what that looks like.

McNulty had a good intermediate ball up the seam and over the middle, but his wind up and stance was so odd and inconsistent that it translated to inconsistent throws.

A lot of people have mentioned defense. On offense I can see him as a big possession receiver away from the line. Don't always have to have a small speed guy over the middle. Of note, UNC frequently used one or two TEs last year, especially in jumbo sets. He and Dillman could be a mismatch vs LBs or nickelbacks in coverage.

Could you imagine a 4 receiver set with Goree, Dillman, Chumley, and Rutherford? Talk about jumbo.

Based on what? High school film or the 2 passes he threw at Alabama?

UNT has zero proven commodity at QB.

I saw him play in 3 A-Day games.  The kid has game for sure.  Just because he didn't break the starting line-up at Bama means nothing.  Top level QB's go there.  Not just game managers.  Look at the last 3 QB's they have had starting.  Morris will do very well here if we can keep him clean....

He didn't break 3rd team and was passed by a freshman. That causes concern.

We have no idea what he is in live game competition, and that causes concern.

I won't argue that and I have the same hesitation.

But on the flip side, would any of our QBs from last year have been the top 2-3 QB in Alabama over the past few years?

No, and that's why I said he was a good get. I just am not ready to count on anything from the kid until after I see him in live action against SMU.

And the black hole behind him is terrifying.

Lot of opinions based on next to nothing.  McCarney and group brought in a savior QB every year that turns out to be far less.   What nobody knows is whether that was poor talent evaluation, offensive scheme, or just lack of ability to develop a QB.  Probably a little of all, but other lower tier teams seemed to have far less problems in finding not only one QB but actually even backups that could be game time effective.

NT now has a new coaching staff and a new offense and hopefully new results.  I would not count any QB out based what little information most of us have.  I can't believe anyone thinks that a couple of minute video at the start of practice is a basis for any type of evaluation.

I am very leery of the QB situation, I rated that position last in incoming units because there really is no basis to rate it higher.  I was disappointed that Littrell didn't bring in another QB that was more likely to be play ready than any of those already here other than Morris.  I do wonder at those questioning the Morris signing because he was no more than a backup at Alabama.  I suspect NT could take the bottom of that roster and win CUSA.

Not ideal, but there are still other QB's out there that can come in the fall if NT doesn't find answers in the spring.
