Man, that article sure had a lot of bad news- essentially no q.b., not enough receivers and the ones they have don't trust the new staff\system yet. I'm really hoping for several more wins. There is still spring and fall, but this is starting to look like a total rebuild.

I agree. Another thing I was wondering about was how our Heart of Dallas Bowl game turned out and if anybody can remember who the quarterback was I sure would appreciated the info.

I think the HoD QB was a guy named Caleb Williams.

remember, jamize olawale was on dodge's team and was sparingly used...i see this as an opportunity and for the coach to discover players that can be utilized properly at north texas

Honestly, that article kind of rattled me. I appreciate the comment. It is, as you pointed out, not unusual for players to switch positions or get a new evaluation from a new set of coaches eyes.

Three things:

1. So, we signed 3 wide receivers out of high school in the last class.  We're going to have to start being like other programs where true  freshman make real contributions in their first season.

2. I know some won't like it, but we'll have to consider it realistic that we will see one or more of the walkons contribute, and soon.

3. Those "moving over" to wide receiver from other positions need to start contributing before (as Olawale did going the other way) NFL Pro Day.

Olawale was used sparingly during his one year under Dodge, but he absolutely disappeared during his one year under Coach Mac.

Olawale was in Dodge's plan but was injured, as I recall. Under Mac, he just disappeared.

Also, I interpreted the article to state that the QB/staff didn't have confidence in the receivers, yet; not the other way around.

I have more concern about keeping Alec Morris healthy than I do finding six or seven receivers that can contribute.

Yes, keeping our starting QB healthy is more of a concern.

I have a concern as to whether any QB on this team is a legitimate G5 QB...

Morris probably will be, but he is surrounded by almost no talent, playing in an offense that is polar opposite to what they have run under Mac, and has no one behind him that should be playing QB at this level, at least for now. Maybe by next year, under Littrell's tutelage, that will change with the QBs here now. But this year is going to be rough--as in we may not win more than we did last year. Butt Cookman is the only game we will be favored to win, looking at it right now. Just hoping we beat UTS Aagain, since they are also going thru tons of upheaval down there and it was awesome to finally beat them this past season as our only win.

I think a lot of them already are, which is part of the underlying talent issue.

UTSA is in San Antonio this year. Good luck with that. Morris was going to be a game managing QB at Alabama until they found a better game managing QB. I wouldn't look for him to be a huge difference maker. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Littrell is going to have a very tough offensive transition this season with the talent on hand. With Butt Cookman being second on the schedule and finishing just out of the top 25 last season in FCS, this game could be another Rick Villarreal disaster, especially if UNT loses by 20 plus to SMU (a distinct possibility).

Butt Cookman was a better football team than UNT at the end of last season (let that sink in). What has UNT done to make themselves better? Who does Butt Cookman have returning? All Tasty-esqe questions. Too bad he is pretty disengaged.

Butt Cookman finished 4th in several Black college football polls.

Scroll to the bottom. The good news is they graduated their QB.

They aren't a pushover. They have won or shared their conference title the last 4 years. I wonder if the Hattiesburg Hustler even checked that before throwing them on the schedule.

Football scheduling brought to you by Rick Villarreal, the worst AD in UNT history.

Name of the game is efficiency. I mentioned that last year for McNulty. If he can keep it above 7 YPA it'll be good news for us.

Morris is likely the most accurate QB we've had in ages. It may not be saying much, but it's what we've needed to keep drives alive, or convert short downs, and keeping the defense off the field.

Based on what? High school film or the 2 passes he threw at Alabama?

UNT has zero proven commodity at QB.

Years of Alabama spring games and practice film.

I am more accurate than Caleb Chumley.

So games and practices where he doesn't take a hit?

Big difference than an actual game.

And were you talking about your QB opinions or actually throwing the football? Valid question.

Still while being chased out of the pocket, and pressured. Otherwise drives stall and he doesn't get another chance to play.

Better form and accuracy than McNulty, Means, and Chumley. That's very easy to see, which allows me to say he is "likely" the more accurate QB. And why I said that it may not be saying much.

In both accounts yes, I can tell that I am more accurate than Chumley, and yes I can tell that Chumley needs to move to receiver.
