Todd in the car?  Look for his grade of the turn after he looks at some film.  Should have called a timeout or two Todd.

Uh...  better husbands and fathers...

Why, this is a virtual gold mine for gmg.com comedy.

It's also disgusting.
Hoping Riley's version of the story is the correct one.

Shameful.

One question...why wasn't someone else attending to the kid? Innocent until proven guilty. I hope that the blood results show a low level of alcohol and all he has to worry about is their pissant sign and his body shop bill.

"Dodge, his 11-month-old son, his wife, mother and his father, former UNT head coach Todd Dodge, were in the car at the time of the accident"

Was there some kind of wreck involved, or did he accidentally ingest intoxicants? Apparently no preferential treatment given in Southlake.

He hit a pole. Still sounds super weird. Could Todd not drive?

I read Vito's article on this incident.  What does Todd Dodge's coaching record at UNT and subsequent firing have to do with Riley getting arrested?  Let it be.

My thoughts exactly when reading this.

Guys, can we wait until more info comes out to pass judgment? Just in general, not just with this situation. Is it not possible he had a couple drinks with the family at dinner and then perhaps got distracted (maybe by the kid) and the two aren't necessarily correlated? It's hard to believe his dad would let him drive if he thought he was totally wasted. Maybe he was buzzed driving, which is still wrong, but we don't have all the facts. I mean, at least wait until the BAC comes out. If it's questionable or even .08 they may drop the charge altogether. Just hold your horses before we start questioning him being a bad parent. He's still Mean Green and deserves for us to at least wait until more information comes out.

Let's hope that you're right. A State Jail Felony conviction wouldn't be good for his budding coaching career on top of everything else.

"Lewis said he "fully expects" Dodge will be cleared once the blood test results come back. According to Lewis, the crash occurred because Dodge had turned to attend to his crying son in the back seat while he was making the turn.

"This wasn't a situation where he was out late at night," Lewis said. "He wasn't partying, he wasn't drinking all day. He had had an early dinner with his parents and his wife and his child and they had spent some time in Southlake."

I hope Riley's side of the story turns out to be true.

He can still be charged with a DUI under the limit. A friend of mine, who is a cop has always suggested to me, that you pass on driving even if you're under .08. It may be harder to convict him (if this allegation is true) but he can still be going to court for a DUI regardless of how much he drank.

I hope things go well for him. He may have been a part of a string of losing seasons... But he is a fellow mean grean fam. Good luck to him.

Right on. Some of you need to stow that holier than thou shit talk.

If he was coaching in DISD he would probably lose a title and still keep the same pay...

That would have involved defensive driving. Todge don't do defense.

That guy's eyes would never pass a roadside sobriety test.

Respectfully, because I love you both... Holier than thou is one thing. But... Considering that we sat through FOUR YEARS of "better husbands and fathers" talk, and then this happens with Dad, child, and Grandpappy Todd in the car together, with a pending intoxication charge?

I don't fault ANYONE for making a joke or two. Especially since no one was hurt.

I don't think it's funny that Riley had an accident. And I definitely don't think it's funny if he was drunk, or if he has any sort of substance issue.

But, I think it's fucking hilarious... HILARIOUS,  that the guy who kept going on and on about coaching guys to be better husbands and fathers was right there in the car while his son, having been drinking at least socially, neglected to pay attention to the road and crashed into a pole (they can come right out of nowhere!). The only thing that would make it more perfectly absurd would be if they'd been stopped by an officer who used to play defense on a Sun Belt team, or if Todd failed a marijuana test connected to the accident.

THIS is top notch.

Perhaps Todd was coaching Riley to drive to the End Zone (in Grand Prairie) but, as usual, couldn't quite lead him there without failing and potentially getting him hurt?

Waiting to see how the pole they hit graded out before I pass judgment.

Edit:  @MeanGreenTexan beat me to it

Both were good.

I think the appropriate thing to do is wait 3 years and then continue this discussion on the McNeese State forum.

Jokes are fair game. Especially anything Dodge related. I guess I'm just seeing it through the lense of someone who has interned for a criminal defense firm. People tend to jump to conclusions on things like this and it ruins people's reputation. I just think it's harsh to call out someone's parenting (in a non-joking manner) before facts come out. Speaking to the usual suspects here, not my fellow non-serious brethren.

Ok fair points to be made in the irony of Teflon being in the car after issuing so many of his default-driven "Husbands and Fathers" speeches.  Much like Mac's "Love him and Cherish him and let him date my daughter" types of speeches... so I get it.

BUT....

In regards to the above mentioned comment.... who do you love more?  Me or him?  Who would you take with you into an alley full of Mike Stojkovics?  A decision needs to be made here.
