It is truly nauseating to watch as a group of individuals either willfully, ignorantly or through incompetence not only destroy a University's athletic program but recklessly waste the last window of opportunity to elevate and secure its place at the upper echelon of college sports.

UNT Athletics is the perfect microcosm of what is wrong with our society and our nation. It is the Peter Principle in action.

Shame on all of you!! There is no excuse!

When they watched the first 7-15 games of the first season of Tony Benford that this disaster of a head coach would be allowed to... hang around for 5 freaking years? Without improvement?

Hell, after Alabama-Huntsville, did anyone think that he would last longer than one year?

Congratulations, Ernie Kuene, @flyonthewall, and the rest of the power players in UNT athletics. You have destroyed a program to protect a friend. Your "leadership" will result in UNT returning to FCS sooner than later. Your "leadership" will result in students overturning the athletics fee. Your  "leadership" will result in another failed football hire.

Your protection of Rick Villarreal is non-sensical. Your manipulation by Rick Villarreal is stunning.

At this point, it would be better for you to walk away from UNT athletics. Your money will be missed short term, but a real college athletic director will quickly find new money that actually cares about results. You are replaceable. We all are. As a matter of fact, new money would come rushing in once the Hattiesburg Hussler has been replaced by the RIGHT hire.

But the dysfunction that is UNT-Denton will never do this. It's an old boys club full of people that accept, and on some level must actually like, losing.

Pro-tip:

RV, The Board of Regents, Lee, Neal, the 17? They DO NOT CARE what you or any of us think. We DO NOT COUNT. RV stays in budget and that is ALL that matters. I'll say it again. Staying in budget is all that matters. The admin at UNT hasn't cared since Theron Fouts was here. They have been running off anyone who did care for decades. If they cared then we would have had a new football stadium decades ago. We would have had baseball years ago. We would have had a completed center tennis court. We would have done WHATEVER it took to get into the SWC. The UNT administration tolerates athletics. Noting more. They allow it to exist as opposed to using it to its fullest potential as the window to the university. Did I mention that staying in budget is all that matters?
