I think I might be all alone on this board in my zeal for the Stars, so I'll just make one thread that I can hack away at. tongue.gif

The Stars beat the Jets, err, Coyotes tonight 5-2. Of all things, I think changing pads might've helped Turco turn it around. He's allowed 5 goals in the last 3 games (since he changed the pads), and it looks like he might've been reigned in a little bit as he's staying in the crease more than he had been so far this season. Could be wrong there...

The funniest part of this game was a goal Phoenix honestly should've had. The puck kept finding its way away from Turco, and eventually the whole Stars' D just dropped to the ice in the crease, keeping it from going in. Great game! biggrin.gif

Next game is Wednesday at 7:00PM @ St. Paul, MN.

Stars win 3-1 over the Wild! I didn't get a chance to see the game, but I really wanted to see what the reception was in St. Paul. For some reason I haven't been able to catch any Stars/Wild games in Minnesota, so I haven't seen whether they're boo'd or not. tongue.gif

Next game is Friday against scary 12-3-4 NJ Devils. I'm not positive, but I believe a win will tie us with the Kings at 1st place in the Pacific, and then we'll get the chance to beat them again this Sunday. biggrin.gif

Next game: Friday at 7:30PM @ the AAC.

The Stars stopped NJ dead in their tracks! Winning streak for the Devils = over. I haven't seen a Stars team this concentrated since sometime last year. Turco was absolutely on tonight and not only got his first shutout of the regular season, but against the defending champs no less! What an absolutely incredible game. We're now sitting atop the Pacific division, and a win over the Kings on Sunday would put us several steps ahead and into the playoff contention spots. Obviously this is a long ways away, but I'm feeling more confident about the Stars chances for Playoffs this year if they keep this up.

Next game: Friday at 6:00PM @ the AAC (TV: FSN).

Stars lost a close game to the Kings tonight, 1-2. There were a few incredible drives led by Ott and Guerin, but none materialized into anything. The only goal of the night came from Zubov in the 2nd period. At least the Stars will have another chance against the Kings this Thursday...

Next game: Thursday at 9:30PM @ Staples Center (TV: FSN).

The Stars lost a hard fought ga...

The Stars lost a game that they never intended on winning. They looked absolutely bush league tonight, especially when Turco cleared the puck to one of the Kings who passed it to another and scored the 2nd goal. I really don't understand how this team is fluctuating from an awe-inspiring performance against New Jersey to being beat twice in a row by a mediocre LA Kings team. Oh well.

Next game: Saturday at 9:30PM @ the HP Pavilion (TV: KDFI 27).

I'll combine two into one. The Stars performance last night in Cali was abysmal. The highest paid backup goalie in the NHL, "Tugger", put on an impressive performance considering how long it's been since he's played a game and how utterly horrible the rest of his team played. Tonight's performance isn't even worth talking about.

Here's hoping that this isn't a sign that that 3 win streak was just an accident.

Next game: Wednesday at 8:00PM @ Glendale Arena (TV: KDFI 27).

Gak--

Just wanted you to know you weren't alone on this thread. I heard most of the Coyotes game on the radio Wednesday night...sounds like the Stars played a lot better, just couldn't put the biscuit in the basket.

Although I was in favor of Modano getting the captaincy after we lost Derian to the Wings (gulp!), I'm beginning to think he might want to give it back. His plus/minus rating is incredibly bad, and I think he's a bit too low-key to serve as a rallier when the chips are down, like they are now. I'm not questioning his hockey skills, just his leadership abilities as they relate to being a captain. Some guys are born leaders, others lead by example and leave the "organizing" to others. Modano, I think, fits into the latter category.

The only problem is, none of the other guys on the roster with enough NHL experience to be captain have big enough roles on the team or enough time with the team to be a serious candidate for captain. So for now, Modano will have to remain the fourth captain in Dallas Stars history.

Maybe a double dip against the Blackhawks this weekend will put the Stars back on the winning path...
