Put me in the camp that is waiting to see if we are extending him.  Keeping him on for his last year can't be good for our recruiting---or so we've always been told.  Extending him would be a flying missile kick to the nuts.

Are we seriously keeping Benford around just so that we can keep this 20 loss team together?  Are we keeping him around to keep Frazier from just leaving?  I don't understand.

So which is it?

A. He drew up a shit contract that the school cannot get out of.

B. He did not raise enough money or convince enough people to make it happen.

C. He is delusional and thinking next year will really be the year.

D. The next AD needs someone to fire/hire as soon as he/she takes over

E. All of the above.

Consider what Frazier does to team chemistry when he finally sees the court after the first semester, takes minutes from the original starter, and wants the ball to show off his NBA-level skills for the scouts. After all, this is his last hurrah.  Seems to me this could create a little turmoil in paradise at the worst time in the season...JMHO.

While that's possible, he was with the current team all through the second semester. The guys have practiced with him and he was on the bench at home games cheering on his new teammates.

I don't think his amount of playing time will cause a problem unless he isn't producing and/or working in practice.

That said, it's a Benford team and that means losing, and lots of it so that could be a catalyst for chemistry issues.

Gonzaga isn't the poor little basketball program people think they are.  They dedicate a large amount of money to men's basketball.

They spend over $7 Million a year.

In comparison,..Texas Tech spends $5 Million, K Stste spends $6 Million, LSU spends $6 Million, Texas A&M $6.8 Million and Oklahoma spends $9 Million.

Rick

No Gonzaga is a little school in a little conference that is a basketball power and I would say they are getting a pretty good return on their investment.

Gonzaga spends a lot on basketball now.  Not sure that was as much the case fifteen years ago.  I think their commitment has grown with their success.

Anyone else notice that TCU hired Jamie Dixon away from Pitt?

I think that is a great hire for TCU, however he isn't coming cheap.

TCU dropped 10M to buy him away.

I wish UNT would go all in on either football or basketball. Quit teetering on suck in both.

TCU is another school that people like to think of as a poor little school.  Yeah, they are little in enrollment but they are one of the richest college programs in the country.

He's also a former player/alumnus.
