I don't think so. I would have put it at less than 10% before today... That sort of loss is the type where the right angry donor with the right wallet could potentially raise hell and fund a buyout, though... So, call it 15-20%.

$30 oil will have an impact on the amount of firings that occur over the next couple of weeks.

True dat.No donor money for buyouts, no firings...

Louisiana has a lot more to worry about than basketball coaches...whether they can even field a team next year is the real question.

Boy, I hope C. Dan and uncle Ernie are diversified... Good thing the Mac buyout was a few months ago when light sweet crude was still a sure bet.

I kind of agree with TTG....I think the chances JJ is fired are very low, but slightly higher after getting crushed.  I think next year his seat will be a bit warm though with one NCAA tourney berth in four seasons.

I don't believe either one of them are in the oil business.

The National perception of Jones right now seems to be a nice guy who can't coach very well.

Great recruiter who can't coach very well. Kinda like here.

Although his teams usually played up to their potential come conference tourney time at UNT.

Not at LSU, apparently.

Does the NIT cover costs of participating?  If not, it might be the reason the admin nixed it.  Higher Ed in LA is in deep financial problems.  The proposal likely did not pass a cost benefit analysis.

They would have hosted a first round NIT game. Financially wouldn't have been a problem.

Wonder about team chemistry being an issue.

If I recall, since the NCAA took over the NIT, travel costs are covered.  I don't think money was the hold up for LSU not playing.  Maybe the players voted...maybe it was chemistry...maybe everyone just wanted to forget this season.

It's easy to forget, but there are lots of coaches not named Jones or Benford out there. I wish we had more reasons to talk about them.
