I have accumulated a number of t-shirts over the years and came across this one the other night.

Wow - 2007 was 9 years ago!  Time flies by.  I initially had good memories about my trip back in 2007.  I remember getting a cheap flight to New Orleans, a town that my North Texas fandom has certainly endeared me to.  High fiving other fans in the airport and on the plane.  The cab ride and anticipation heading into the french quarter.  Meeting up with some fellow fans and grabbing some great seafood before walking over to the Superdome.  The excitement of dancing!  I remember feeling so proud of well the team played against a superior opponent.  I remember feeling so good about the future prospects of the program.  Even though we lost it was a good flight home.

But quickly after my trip down memory lane, I was doused with a cold bucket of water reminding me of where we were today and how long the road has been in the last few years.  It made me feel sad.  Hopefully we will pull a rabbit out of the hat in this tourney.  With Combs' injury that seems like a longshot.  We need and deserve a good men's basketball program.  We sit in a talent rich area and should rightly be contending for an NCAA bid every year. That said, I hope that we do have a good C-USA Tourney showing and start moving  this thing in the right direction soon.  gmg

That Gator squad that year though. Whew

On a side note, thank Rick for your sadness. It was brought to you by him. I have never really seen sustained success at North Texas. So the pill for me is not as hard to swallow. My usual game at the pit consists of about 1500 fans and a 6-12 point loss with an occasional win sprinkled in.
