Anyone heard names? I have heard one Danny Henderson (former Peaster, and Marcus HS coach) currently at Boise state in his 3rd or 4th season I believe.  This is from a coaching buddy who said Danny expressed interest in the job.

For some strange reason, i kind of wish we would consider Steve Shields.  I used to love when our student section would give him a hard time.  He seemed to always have an angry "Gene Keady look" on his face, but his teams always tormented us to no end and once got the best of us at the worst possible time (2011 sun belt tournament).  I know UALR got rid of him, but It just seems like he was able to get a lot out of nothing while he was there.  Looks like he's currently part of the staff at Mizzou.

This is mainly to keep me sane and semi enjoy the basketball thread.  Anyone you got? I love Cross at UTA, but he's on to bigger and better things.  I wouldn't mind SFA coach either but he is bordering on being ready for a big time job.  SFA coach has offered and tried to pull local kids (DFW) with some decent success.

Benford is here to stay. It's a joke but I think it's accurate. Some bullshit about keeping the roster intact. Dude blows and needs to kick rocks but our AD gives his hires the benefit of the doubt so he can call them a sucess story then of course pat himself on the back.

Welp, Cross signed a 4 year extension and will most likely stay at UTA for the foreseeable future and end up getting a building named after him when all is said and done. Looks like we're stuck with Benny whether we like it or not.

Just because Cross signed an extension/can't/won't come here doesn't mean we are stuck with Benford. 

There are other coaches out there, and a pretty good number of them are better than Benford.

By "pretty good number of them" you mean all of them correct?

Cross is the all-time winning coach in UTA history and played for them as well. He gets all 5 starters and 6 from the bench back next year. I doubt that he leaves UTA and a chance to make noise in the NCAA tournament next year to come to this dumpster fire. If and when he leaves UTA it will be for a much higher profile program.

 

RV will go "All In" on Benford not messing up next years team and pray that he breaks through.

I like where you are going.  Only thing I don't like about Capel is the violations at OU.  I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him. Heck Tech and Houston just made runs at previous coaches who had trouble and they made it out so far.

Gosh, could we not hire another "up and coming" assistant ?   I'd like us to hire a head guy that knows what it's like to be the head guy. 

 

I know.  I know.  Coach Littrell is and Coach McCarney was.  But I bet most head coaches know their way around a recruits living room as well as a basketball court.

At our level, if you insist on a guy with experience, 99.9% of the time, you're getting a guy with warts, a very low ceiling, current time away from the game, or a combination.
