In September, we'll look back on this thread and laugh at how foolish we were, considering the game actually drew so many people that we had to sell standing room tickets in the south end zone.

Back to reality, I still think the season (and home, whaaaa???) opener will draw a good crowd. Seth Littrell has really put some desperately-needed energy into the program. I didn't think I could feel so optimistic following a 1-11 season, but maybe I'm just too young. Also consider that the rivalry game will increase attendance, and since SMWho actually won the game last year, I'm willing to bet there will be more Ponies in attendance at Apogee than there was in 2014.

As we all know, Apogee's largest crowd is still the stadium opener against Houston in 2011, when 28,075 attended to see a loss. The next four that round up the Top 5 all witnessed victories. The second-highest attended game was 2013 vs. UTEP with 26,119 and the fifth largest was 22,259 against Texas Southern in 2012.

So my way-too-early prediction of the UNT/SMU attendance is.... 23,114. This will be including a noticeably larger amount of students in attendance. I think with Littrell's UNT Gridiron Twitter page, a lot more students are taking notice and getting excited.

Student turnout hasn't been much of a problem the last several years, especially early in the season. Following an abysmal season, getting anyone else to come will be the problem (especially if, as mentioned above, they screw us with an early kick-off). Adjusting somewhat for my eternal.optimism, I'll say:

22,500

Not that it'll ever happen in my lifetime, but could that possibly be a thing if it ever became necessary?  You know, around the time the apes take over and Charleton Heston yells at a statue in the sand?

Too early, but I will play. US - 18,000, THEM - 1,000, TOTAL ATTENDANCE PREDICTED = 19,000

The "Seth Littrell Factor" kicks in here. People are curious to see what he molds out of the clay he was left with which to work. This is a fork in the road...win and crowds will build (even for Butt - Cookman); lose and we'll trend downward the rest of the year, except for Marshall. I predict that Marshall will be the biggest crowd of the year, whichever fork in the road we take. Further Affiant sayeth not.

About what I was going to predict, so I'll say 18.5k.

If UNT loses, expect attendance to fall dramatically the next week.

22,000

Pretty much all UNT fans. SMU will bring almost a thousand (hopefully 1500). If it is an evening game, bring it to 24,000 total. The first game of the season always draws some of the best crowds and we are playing a well know opponent/neighbor in DFW. Being that we have a new staff, I think that will bring in some more people as well.

If we crap the bed that game, I believe attendance will fall. So I'm sure SL know's how important this game is.

Did you check with Cerebus to see if it's the right time for a thread/question like this. Seems early to me.

Hence the "way-too-early" prediction.

EDIT: Plus, there isn't much else for me to talk about during the offseason.

I can help here:
It's going to be very hot at 9:00am, followed by a high of extremely hot at around 4:00pm, returning to very hot until 9:00pm.

Don't forget the Ohio game was an early September game (Sept 12). Odds are you are right, but one never knows.

This should be Apogee's first sell out, but  I will predict 27,000.

Why "should" this be a sell out?  We played them to start the 2014 season, coming off of a bowl winning season, and didn't sell out.

I'll generously say 22k...and the ponies bring 750 of it.

22,398 in 2014.

Coming off the best season in the last 10 years.
