Why with Brice having the best game of his career, do you put him on the bench and replace him with Fuller when the game is on the line?  Good effort without Combs, but very undisciplined in last 5 minutes.

The substituting in this game was on par with what Tony Benford does. Dude is a deadbeat and word on the "screet" is that he's going to be here next year to keep the "roster in tact." Well, THAT roster with THIS coaching is a recipe for a 10-15 win season. I don't know Fuller personally and he very well be a great guy, but the dude has cylinder blocks as feet. He can't guard the ball on the block, has lazy eyes that allows back-doors whenever, and can't jump therefore he can't rebound.

Another game and yet another opposing team that does not have the athletes we do, but has a coach yet again running literal circles around Tony Benford. If Tony Benford is back, I am officially checking out until he is gone. Did it with McCarney after the Rice game and will be doing it with Benford starting tonight. Goodbye for now, UNT basketball.

I wonder if we've ever had double digit losses in football and 20 losses in men's basketball in the same school year.

Prior to this century's 4 double digit football losses debacle, we've only had one other double digit football loss season ('72) in our history, so I doubt it.

School year. Overlapping seasons. Don't remember the years, but we only had two 10-loss seasons before Dodge

All I'm seeing is '72, '07, '08, '09, and '15.

Besides the lack of conditioning, I'm not seeing much basketball talent from Fuller.  I've been waiting to see him do anything special on offense or defense and there just isn't anything he can offer.  I'd really like to read the reports some of our scouts wrote when recruiting a bunch of our current roster.

I assume the report for Carrington Ward looked something like this...

"extra timmed, afraid of the ball, afraid of opposing players, intimidated by his own teammates.  prefers to leave his arms straight with his hands resting against his legs at all times, including while running around the perimeter trying to avoid any involvement with the game of basketball"

The straight arms are a coaching issue that should have been solved 2 offseason's ago during his first practice with unt.  He's never prepared to catch a pass, and is always about a second behind the defenders reaction time as he tries to assume the dribbling position.  I don't see any talent in Pittman either, but at least he always has a full head of steam as soon as he gets his hands on the ball.  I know he can't shoot, but i usually trust him to catch a pass, dribble, and play defense better than Ward, which is all we can pray for when Deckie is on the bench.  I'll be happy to post our coaches scouting report on Holston if anyone is interested.

I wasn't a big fan of Brown at the start of the season, but he's really proven my initial thoughts wrong.  I trust him to shoot almost as much as DJ and his aggressive perimeter defense along with outstanding dribbling/passing skill set is a welcomed sight.

Except there is no criticism in private.

If any college sports fan looked at the numbers in this thread, they would think there was no way in hell the same AD was allowed to stay employed through by far the worst period for UNT football in school history. They would be floored and would laugh hysterically if you told this was a fact.

Wait... They already laugh hysterically...

I was axctually going to quote your previous research and remind about the 89-90 season...

We went into that season attempting to play for a third straight conference championship.  Our very own Drex, who worked circles around anything anyone has ever seen the past 15 years in way of promotions...came up with a Three-Peat campaign and everyone was excited at a third chance to win conference, host the post season tourney and play on national TV a third straight time.

But it didn't happen, we tanked and fell apart.  ULM(NLU then) won and hosted the tourney in Monroe.  Then chaos nearly unfolded.  North Texas got hot, won and reached the championship and actually played on ESPN a third straight time, but lost.

Had we won that game we would have made the tournament with (I don't recall the exact record) a 7-20 record?  Crazy!

You can't be serious? Smastrek sat unamused and cheered only when we made a comeback.  I assume you'd rather he flip the guys the bird and sit over there and pout? Working on posting a picture now..

Yes. He is amused at whatever. By just listening to him speak and reading his interviews, I have gathered nothing but a "yes man" attitude from him. #pleaseforheavensakeprovemewrongNeal

Maybe get him a Fire Benford sign he could hold up?

That was the picture I was referring to btw...I would say he looks anything but pleased with what he was watching.  Did he cheer during our success sure! I never saw him even acknowledge RV
