And achilles tear for a running back is worse than a ligament tear.

No technically it is a tendon tear. Tendons and ligaments are similar structurally but not the same.

And I am guessing he meant ACL or MCL tear, specifically, which is more common in RBs. Not sure which is worse thought.

People come back from ACL tears close to 100% or at 100% most of the time. Achilles often ends careers.

Achilles tears are increasingly becoming more recoverable, though it is still a tough road. A decade, or maybe even 5 years ago, it would be a death knell for a RB.

Hope he sticks to his recovery plan and comes out on top.
