Thanks for sharing, Rick.  Care to share more about Brynarski's tantrum?

North Texas University?  close enough for this article.

Kozak:  I'm a vegetarian.  And some of the local people said I need to go to the local vegetarian restaurant.  So Hawk (Howard W. Koch Jr., Executive Producer) and I go.  Well, they have a long list of vegetables and they are all deep fried.  And I said, "Do you have anything that is not deep fried?"  She said that would be the "vegetable du jour."  I asked what that would be and she said mac and cheese. There was nothing vegetarian about this restaurant except that they had a lot of vegetables.  And that's when I knew I was a long way from Los Angeles.

Times have certainly changed at NT and in Denton since then - she wouldn't have a problem finding vegetarian food now.  Isn't there a vegetarian dorm cafeteria?

Yeah, Andrew wanted to be a big boy and try and do some of his own stunts.  So his "stunt" was to be flipped over in a simple jujitsu-style shoulder-throw to the ground by Randy White.  But he wouldn't relax and let Randy do it like the stuntmen were instructing him to do (one stuntman was Curtis Nortis, son of Chuck).  So because he wouldn't do it right Allen Graffe kept making them do it over and over and over.  Take after take after take.  They did it maybe 8-10 times? Finally, Randy White, who was half the size of Brynarski if you can imagine, finally gets fed up with Andrew and grabs him and REALLY throws him down hard.  Big boy then got up screaming and whining about it, throws a huge tantrum about it not being in his contract( to be thrown down hard), then throws his helmet, yanks off his jersey and shoulder pads, throws them too and storms off set.  They had to break at that point because everyone, cast and crew were just looking at each other in shock.  Not the Manster though, he was grinning ear to ear.  It was so funny.

While on break I had to take Butkus to get his smokes in the lockerroom because I had the only key to it.

Shooting convened without him an hour or so later.  Man, the opinions and comments by all were priceless.  Andrew was truly  full of himself because he had just completed Hudson Hawk and he let everybody know it.  You just had to know that guy to understand.  Cast and crew folks thought Andrew was done and would be written out of the script but someone, Graffe maybe, patched things up the next week and we moved on.

Nice story, but did you ever get to take Christi Brinkley to the locker room to get her "smokes?"

Now THAT would be a story.

You mean Kathy Ireland....yes.  Not to get smokes but to get dressed.  I was tasked with clearing out an old closet under the student side(east) of Fouts for her to use as a dressing room.  And of course, I had the key to this room and helped fit her equipment and maintain it and made sure that it was kept clean.  All part of my dual responsibilities during shooting.  Can't divulge the best story with that here.  That'll have to be a tailgate share.

Because it's a resume service for actors and costs like $35 a month, or it did the last time I checked.  Stebo wanted me to activate mine years ago but I have no use for it since it's not my profession.

Love the photos @FirefightnRick

I wast like 5 but my parents took me to one of the final wrap parties some of the cast members threw. It was at a house right down the street from us. I dont remember it what so ever but I still have a photo of Sinbad and I that I cherish so dearly.

What kind of scene did Brynarski cause?

I was in school and bartending at the old Trail Dust out on east 380 during this time.  The cast would come in on Sunday evenings and eat and hang out.  They had one of their parties out there one Sunday night, and asked if we would stay open later since the place shut down at 10pm on Sundays.  They pooled money and paid the band to stay and tipped the wait staff and myself very nicely for working extra.  The best part of this was that Kathy Ireland did not drink, so she walks up to the side of the bar and asks me if it is alright if she stands there while the rest of the group is getting rowdy.  I was the same as FFR, after looking at her in SI and having one of her posters at home, I think I mumbled something that was inaudible but shook my head yes.  She just smiled, stuck out her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Kathy what's your name?"  She was extremely nice and down to earth.  Actually, all that I came in contact with were great although Jason Bateman was a little full of himself at that time.

My second favorite memory was arriving for my first class of the day at the PEB only to have to wait while they shot the opening scene where the previous, scandal ridden coach is escorted to a waiting vehicle amongst a throng of media.  They must have shot that little scene 20 times causing me to miss half of class.

I took my 2 sons to Fouts for part of the filming.  We are in the crowd scene (Unless we're on the cutting room floor where they say the best scenes end up) filmed at night.  They gave us hot dogs and pennants.  The Dixie Chicks performed on some sort of trailer on the field.  Afterward, they just towed them off ( much like Natalie Maines did of their career) .  As I recall, they had big water hoses spraying water onto the field so simulate rain.  We stayed as late as a responsible father could stay.  We still hate those Texas Colts.

Good memories, but actually that was the original Dixie Chicks (pre-Maines),..the ones that were the most talented in which all four members played an instrument rather than just running their mouth.

And yeah, that rain scene went till we lost dark around 5:30 a.m and it just about ruined the Dillo suit because it soaked up the water like a sponge.  After that it was so heavy it was being dragged around when I moved about..  Not what it was made for.

4th from the bottom of this list, I think, Dennis Swilley, played center for the Minnesota Vikings and came to North Texas for an art degree.  Why he's on this list I don't know.

Great guy.  Played 10-11 years for the Vikes.  Finished his degree at NT. He body doubled for the center actor.  He told me once that he made the decision to retire when a rookie they brought in signed for more money than he had made his entire career.
