Isn't it part of Ricky's job description, to get donor money into UNT's pockets?

Nice, but not surprising, that they quote only one "fan", and that one fan being a very disgruntled one.  Fair and balanced it is not, but no sugar coating the low attendance numbers.  Not good and needs attention...serious attention.

Look, I was very moderate on RV before I took a hard look at scheduling football games and then listen to him repeatedly lie to the fan base about it. It took me a while to get to the extremely hard line position I now have on RV. You, too, will get there. Everyone that is honest with themselves eventually does.

Well, it was late October that I made the decision to NOT renew my two, front row, 50 yard line Club Seats that I have held since my Apogee commitment was made.  So there's that.

Obviously the president gets it and RV is trying to sugar coat it. The attendance is garbage because our sports are absolutely terrible. If we won, people would love to attend games. However, we get embarrassed so no one wants to go.

I completely agree that RV isn't living up to his word. The scheduling isn't what he promised, the 5 home games was a joke, and I'm really not happy about him scheduling Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian, and so on. Fail. I certainly recall him talking about concerts at Apogee too. Another fail.

UNT football & basketball is failing under RV. He's stuck in his ways and has done all he can do because he doesn't evolve. Long time fans giving up is terrible and to say it's a minority that has given up is delusional. Thousands and thousands less at every game is pretty telling. Most fans I speak to are fed up with losing. My family is fed up with losing. All of my friends are fed up with losing. I'm fed up with UNT sports minus Soccer. 

Any legitimate Athletic Department would be under a new AD already. RV needs to step down or be fired for the good of the university.

I get angry every time I see that article.

Yes we have hired a new football coach, but overall, more can and should be done. As fans, do you really believe enough of our issues have been adequately addressed? Men's basketball is averaging 2,006 per game so far in our 11-16 campaign. That's down 600 fans per game over last season. But for some reason Smatresk stays quiet and we stay the course. At this point, I don't have much faith in Smatresk.

And if the probable happens and he isn't?  I get not airing dirty laundry. But not cleaning dirty laundry I do not get.

Time will tell, but a change has to be made.  If one isn't made, then Smatresk has to go public and explain why.  If not, the silence will kill the department and fundraising and alumni engagement will decline in all areas.

Most people just walk the F away, Mark. Like over 6k a game did last year for football.

Don't try to scapegoat Denny for having the guts to publicly talk about problems inside this AD and the lies told by Rick Villarreal. 

I think a lot of you will be shocked by football attendance numbers this fall.
