30,334 For UNT Fall Enrollment

Spoke with an unnamed UNT official today and was given the above "unofficial" enrollment numbers for Fall 2002.

There is always attrition between now and the 12'th day of class so if we stay over 30K, and some officials on campus think we should, we will be ahead of the enrollment pace that the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has forecast for the University of North Texas.

I would say a job well done for the entire staff at the University of North Texas! BRAVO!

Last I saw, UH was like 33K and TT was around 34K, don't quote me. I don't think this moves us up in the rankings any, but I could be wrong there. Wait until offical numbers are released.

I think you're mistaken, Stan. It was my understanding that UNT had already surpassed Tech in terms of numbers. BTW...I asked my brother who is a prof at Kansas what the enrollment is at KU, and he said "about 28,000."

I read that Texas Tech officials were keeping their fingers crossed to get up to 27,000 this Fall which would be a record for them.

I think UH is who we need to pass to become the 3'rd largest in Texas. I have no idea what UH's enrollment is now. Anyone out there know for sure?

Last year, UH had about 33,000. There was an article in the DMN last week about Tech trying to reach 27,000 (for the record, UNT passed Tech in total enrollment back in 1988 and never looked back).

In other words we're about 4-5 years from surpassing Houston.
