He was here long enough to get a paycheck for doing nothing. How much was he making again?

Oh ya that's right - $185,000 a year

There were a lot of pay checks that got handed out last season, that had no reason business being printed.  We Mac/RV basically shot ourselves in the foot, and Mac was not the only one who raked in the cash and left.

What's sad is how much more money Mac was making compared to Chico.

I got to feel for Chico though, he got screwed having to come in twice to be babysitter. Now he has no job and no paycheck while Mac is sitting on the beach collecting a check.

Let's not forget that Skladany had us as the 42nd best total defense in 2014.

Cosh had us at 119th in 2015. ONE F'ING YEAR!! That's all it took to destroy what Skladany had built.

If Littrell's offense is as effective as I hope it will be we would hang 80 on them

Hell we hung 41 on freaking P5 Kansas State when he was DC there. I think we might go triple digits against a FCS defense coached by him.

This.  Unfortunately, their administrators and leaders were more politically savvy than ours back in the day.  It paid off long term.

We played lone wolf, and we are lone wolf.    I realize it's really popular to ding RV, but our problems were way of out proportion long before he arrived.

We f*cked up in the late 70s/early 80s, then slept in the 90s when all the deals were beginning to be done.  Place the blame on the leader back then - presidents, boards, athletic directors.

No RV is all the blame but he has been here 10 years and done nothing to reverse the negative trend.  Both head coaching hires he has made were poor before we had the benefit of hind sight.  His "biggest" hire was Dan McCarney a losing head coach with no Oklahoma, Louisiana or Texas HS Football connections.  That is sheer idiocy at University without a history athletic success or name recognition to recruit nationally.  He was totally unprepared to recruit in this region.  Then Mac hires Cosh.  At first when I entered this thread thinking Cosh might not have been a bad hire then I read the rest of this thread and did a little research

That and he is a coach that has bounce around from program to program and none of the defensive team in his long career standout.  And the performance of the defenses he was associated with after we put 41 on KSU weren't any better.  So they hired him to do what exactly?  Recruit?  Well that is kind of hard to do when you don't have an impressive resume or connections in region you are now trying to recruit.  Don't think UNT has ever pulled many recruits from Florida, New York, or Kansas.

I still remember watching us on TV, I think against La Tech, when their run game was just ripping us a new one, the announcer saying, "and North Texas stays in a 3-4 scheme", as though he just couldn't figure out what our defensive philosophy was.  Not that any of us did.

That's kind of a tradition around here.

I heard that when Cosh got here, he proclaimed his defense was the smallest and slowest in FBS. If only he had the chance to get HIS players...

Come on man that's not fair.  He was here long enough for a cup of coffee.  To put that much blame on him just is not right.

Come on Harry, he is gone. You don't have to kiss his butt anymore in hopes of getting an interview.
