The schedule matters.  If it doesn't why even have home games?  Let's just sell every game and get that baseball program started quicker?

I agree that playing all 3 Texas teams home and then away is stupid. I also agree that the decision to keep opponents the same and using UAB as an excuse was stupid by CUSA.

But I won't use the schedule as an excuse for saying "we'll lose because..."

You and me want culture change. You think Marshall is going to blame the schedule before playing a snap?

I want my team to come in for a road game against a Texas team, or a home game against a top notch CUSA East team and expect to win.

As I've mentioned before, we have one of the easiest schedules in the country. We should expect a CUSA-level team to compete against CUSA-level opponents.

Ooh, look! Nope, IMG tags don't seem to be working, buddy!

Your using the wrong markup code.

HTML Image Tags work fine.

Here is me inserting one using the Insert Other Media button:

Here is me using the Source button:

Oh hey, look at this:

So if we play Alabama 12 times next year you won't lower your expectations?  Tough crowd.

I think we could win 3 games and be greatly improved over last year, it's a tough schedule.

It was announced a while ago that we'd have the conference schedule flipped -- home was now away and away was now home. It's not exactly breaking news. The only questions was going to be who do play on what day.

So, no, GMG doesn't have IMG tags, which are default on pretty much every forum. My point from the start. But nice try.

I think you are failing to understand the underlying material.  The term "image tag" means something.  It's defined in Internet Engineering Task Force's RFC 1866.  Section 5.10 has the following to say about the image tag:

Quote

5.10. Image: IMG

The <IMG> element refers to an image or icon via a hyperlink (see 7.3, "Simultaneous Presentation of Image Resources"). HTML user agents may process the value of the ALT attribute as an alternative to processing the image resource indicated by the SRC attribute. NOTE - Some HTML user agents can process graphics linked via anchors, but not <IMG> graphics. If a graphic is essential, it should be referenced from an <A> element rather than an <IMG> element. If the graphic is not essential, then the <IMG> element is appropriate. Attributes of the <IMG> element:

ALIGN
alignment of the image with respect to the text
            baseline.

                * `TOP' specifies that the top of the image aligns
with the tallest item on the line containing the
                image.

                * `MIDDLE' specifies that the center of the image
aligns with the baseline of the line containing the
                image.

                * `BOTTOM' specifies that the bottom of the image
aligns with the baseline of the line containing the
                image.

    ALT
text to use in place of the referenced image resource,
for example due to processing constraints or user
            preference.

    ISMAP
indicates an image map (see 7.6, "Image Maps").

    SRC
specifies the URI of the image resource.

NOTE - In practice, the media types of image
resources are limited to a few raster graphic
                formats: typically `image/gif', `image/jpeg'. In
                particular, `text/html' resources are not
intended to be used as image resources.

    Examples of use:

    <IMG SRC="triangle.xbm" ALT="Warning:"> Be sure
    to read these instructions.

    <a href="http://machine/htbin/imagemap/sample">
    <IMG SRC="sample.xbm" ISMAP>
    </a>

And yes, I can assure you the GMG supports the image tag.  If you would like to double check, do the following:

  1. Make a new post.
  2. Look in the top left corner of the post and click on the Source button.
  3. The WYSIWYG interface will be replaced with, tada, all the HTML markup code.
  4. Put in a valid IMG tag as defined above.
  5. Click the Source button again to get the WYSIWYG interface again, and there the image is.

Ryan, you are probably referring to some other markup.  Like BBCode, or maybe Reddit's Markdown.  There are tons of other markups.  On the internet in general though, IMG Tag = HTML IMG Element.

I'm in the boat of, we're playing a CUSA-level schedule, we should expect to be competitive among our peers.

Last year we had the 113th easiest schedule in the country, and it is about identical.

We can't lay blame on the schedule for our woes forever.

Thank you.

We are playing CUSA competition. C'mon folks, get over it. Play the hand that is dealt and overcome the hurdles. A lot of these teams are losing a lot of players.

This schedule is awful.  How the hell does CUSA justify handing us the top of the east again?  Why don't we get a shot at ODU and Charlotte?  I really don't know what the AD can do about getting the Texas schools off the 3 on/ 3 off rotation but I hope they are raising hell about it

You mean our AD, right?

and here I thought you've been paying attention all these years...

I've come down pretty hard on the AD for a lot of things, but I really don't know how much influence schools have over the CONFERENCE schedule.  Maybe it's Seth Littrell Mania running wild all over me?

For all the Texas schools being on the road, I find this an attractive home schedule.

Edit:  However, I await to see how many conference home games are on Tuesday at four in the afternoon.

You can rest assured that RV won't go to bat for us with CUSA regarding splitting the Texas teams home and away in future schedules. He'll also accommodate TV regarding game times, no matter what time is proposed. That's ok for Oct/Nov games. It is NOT OK for a September 3rd game. It should start NO EARLIER than 6:00. This is Texas not Maine.

RV is a pushover. Everyone knows it but this forum and the 17. He couldn't negotiate $5 off a new car.

We will continued to get screwed this way. Is there a home game on Texas/OU day? A that home game our homecoming? Inquiring minds need to know...

Thursday, but yep. You can bank on one Thursday home game.

SMU Game time better not suck this time around!

There's absolutely no reason it should suck. Television scheduling will not be a factor considering these two teams 2015 records.

This is also the last game that SMU has contracted to play in Denton and North Texas' only realistic shot at a sellout in the foreseeable future. A series extension past the 2017 game in Dallas has been discussed but to my knowledge nothing has been signed.

We know that the average temperature for September 3 in Denton is 94 degrees, and we know that the sun will set at 7:48 PM.

So figuring by those facts, ticket buyers on the east side of the stadium will be baking and staring into the sun any time before 7:30.  Those fans will not have an optimum experience and will be less inclined to return for subsequent games against less marketable opponents.

Starting this gave before 7:30 would be idiotic. Get a good crowd there and make sure they have the best time possible, and inspire them to return to additional games. Why would anybody working with scheduling aspire to do otherwise?

Lol. Didn't read far enough down. If he were an Eskimo, he'd buy ice.

If he were Hawaiian, he'd buy sand and salt water.

If he were a Robinhood, he'd buy wood.

If he was Rapunzel (sp?) he'd buy hair extensions.

If he were Bruce Lee, he'd pay for Karate lessons.

If he were Sophia Vergara, he'd pay for a breast reduction...

Ok, the last one may have gone too far.

I'd be shocked if that game starts anytime after 6pm. I actually think it will be an early afternoon game again, as CUSA will use it as a showcase game on Fox Sports, like they did last time they played here in 2014.

If the series doesn't continue beyond 2017, it will only be because SMU cancels it. And they will only cancel it if it doesn't help them. Right now, it is a major help. They get a game that they believe they should win, plus its an easy game to travel to for their fans, as well as getting a huge amount of UNT fans to go to Ford when we play there. They need winnable games and well-attended games. I believe they have TCU at home this year and UNT at home in 2017. That's one OOC game that will be well-attended, in theory, every year for them, which helps when the closest teams you play are tiny Tulsa and UH, which doesn't travel that great.

Homecoming is on the road this year.  At Army.
