Actually, play calling was at fault for one of those pick 6s. Chico fell in love with the screen pass the previous year after the LaLa game. You know what doesn't work? Screen passes against 8 man fronts.

But you simply couldn't get that through Chico' thick skull.

You dont blame play calling for a pick 6. If it aint there throw in in the ground. Come on man. Thats like the most ridiculous BS statement. Good QBs dont make that mental mistake over and over again.

We disagree. Especially in that turd of an offense that he was forced to operate in.

Funny how so many gave me so much grief in 2013 when I was griping about that system, only to gripe themselves 2 years later.

What DT did inside that system was amazing. I wish he had QBed in a system that wasn't one of the worst in America. Unfortunately for him, he didn't.

The angst toward this future UNT hall of famer on this site is humorous. A bunch of guys who judged DT too early and can't admit they were wrong.

So North Texas.

I got nothing against DT and what he did here. Im just going to say that you cant blame an INT on the play call. You just cant. Someone on the field made a mistake wrong route, missed block, QB over or under throw, etc.

Was it a bad play call? Yes! But DT should've made up for it by making the right decision on the field. Its just that simple.

Ridiculous.  Give me Thompson in a heartbeat over the messes in 2014 and 2015.

So many went on record saying we would've better at QB in 2014 with DT gone that all they do now is try and tear him down (Looking at you @emmitt01 )

You'd think a 5th year senior HOF QB would know how to check out of a bad play or introduce the nose of the football to the turf. 90, you can't have it both ways.

Normally I would agree, but everyone remembers cringing every time a screen pass was called in 2013. DT is forced to make a snap decision to take a sack or throw the screen. Those picks were tipped at the line of scrimmage. Everyone GD that play scouted out for half a season before Mac made Chico stop throwing it. Just terrible terrible play calling.

That "turd" of an offense churned out the most points since we rejoined A-I/FBS,and the only one for average over 30 points per game.

But, yes...DT was head and shoulders above any QB on the roster at the time, and since.  By the way, I was one who pooh-poohed DT when he was signed.  He's the one guy, though, who through hard work and persistence, actually made something of himself as a player in spite of not being a highly regarded prospect.

Yes.  These were the Dajon worshipppers.  Understood.  And, Dajon was great against Nicholls State.  Unfortunately, we don't play in the Southland Conference.  So, Dajon high flying star fell to earth pretty quickly after that moonshot.

You need to take out ppg by the special teams and defense to make that a legit stat, but I get your point. And again, that is a huge compliment to DT for what he did inside a terrible offensive system.

May want to amend that statement to says "He's the only QB..." or "...made something of himself as a QB..."

Because there is a laundry list of players who beg to differ.

Especially on that team. Zac Orr comes immediately to mind.

Zach was all-state 5A (at that time, the biggest classification) his Jr year and had some nice offers before being injured his Sr year.

The guy that came to mind for me was the Copperas Cove 'tagalong' (0 other offers) we go to go with Brandin Byrd.

Byrd himself had no other offers

Okay, give me the laundry list of North Texas players with no offers or offers from only one FCS or D-II, as was the case with DT, who overachieved.  I'll bet it's pretty short.
