Man, you really are bummed...you quoted it twice. Ha!  Understand completely.  A 5pm start time makes it pretty tough for some folks to attend.  Some folks can take off a bit early...some definitely cannot. Some are local so it helps...others not so much.

I was recently told that Coach Harrell is really high on the kid out of Oklahoma, Mason Fine, and really wants the kid at UNT as a QB.  Will be interesting to see how this develops.

Also...was told that Coach Littrell still expects to sign a few more players before the deadline...maybe up to the full 25.  We could be in store for a pleasant surprise or two if a couple of things fall UNT's way before the deadline.  We will know come Wednesday, and get to hear about it from the coaching staff on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd from 5-7pm at Apogee's Hub Club room.  Here's hoping for a big turn out to meet and greet our new coaching staff, and to find a bit out about the UNT recruiting class of 2016!

Your source is either way wrong, some stealth recruiting happened and some guys are committed that we don't know about, or Littrell is violating dead period NCAA regulations.

Really?  OK...so if we have a full 25 or close to it, it is only because we are breaking the rules?  Got it.

It is, however, very possible that he has them "in hand" but has not announced and will not until signing day, right?  And what rule is he breaking if he picks a few more up between today and tomorrow if that's when a kid decides?  Perhaps you are quibbling with my use of "signed" instead of committed?

Of course, a source can be wrong, but it is positive news to me even if we get close to 25.

2/1/2016 thru 2/4/2016 is a dead period, but head coach and his assistants can still telephone, text or write to recruits and their parents.  No face to face allowed.

ETA: BTW if you ever want to know what the periods are, the NCAA always posts a pdf calendar.  This year's is here.

With his knowledge of (and demonstrated performance in) a similar system, I have felt that Fine will work out well. Fine has the drive to succeed here. We seem to be set for this fall; give Fine a year to build strength and adapt to the higher level of play in practice and he should be competent in a year. Bring in one or two others as the opportunities present themselves, and we should have a good QB corps going forward. JMO.

Augie going the Prep School route?  What does that even mean and how does it work if he is a senior?

It's the same concept as grayshirting. By not enrolling in a college as a full-time student (12 hours), they delay their eligibility counter starting. However, instead of just staying at home training and taking <12 hours, they go to these prep schools and play for a team. They can then be re-recruited and, unlike going the juco route, still have all of their elgigbitly when they get to the university.

As stated....recruiting still goes on...even in the so-called dead period.  It is only "dead" for face-to-face visits.  Lots of other communication methods.  Am sure Coach knows this and will use his remaining time appropriately.
