Early 2016 class impressions

So far 16 players, some mid terms and some commits, but we are starting to see a trend...SPEED. 

Deion Hair-Griffin, Rico Bussey, Khairi Muhammad, Dee Baulkman, Darius Turner, Jameel Moore, William Johnson, Nic Smith and Tyler Wilson.

Of the 16 we show 9 commits who bring a lot of speed to the table at their respective positions.  Remember, Coach Chico spoke about team speed as being a key issue for the program when we were losing games against the better teams in C-USA.  Mac said the same thing we he arrived here but was not able to address it effectively.  Littrell immediately addressed the QB issue with Morris.  Now it appears he is putting in some additional weapons that will help increase the overall speed of the team.

Other thoughts on the class trends so far?

We are getting some size on the offensive line too. 6'7 Anthony Chandler plus a more experienced 6'9 Jordan Murray. Speed was what Jimmy Johnson always preached with the Cowboys. He always said we may not be the biggest team but we will be the fastest in the NFL. Worked for him.

He'll be a walkon.

I think a good target number for this class would be 22. We currently have 15 spots filled, so 7 more would be a good number. Not necessarily by signing day, but also getting a few guys between signing day and fall camp starting.

That would also leave 3 open spots we could use to sign 28 next class. That'd be a good number to keep hitting the JUCOs hard and getting a good mix of high school kids as well.

We signed a full class last year, so we didn't have that option

By signing day, maybe. But I could see us signing up to 22 for this class by the time fall camp starts. I just hope our post signing day recruits work out better than they did for Mccarney.
