Got a phone call about renewal today and they left a message. I am not making any decision until April, as previously stated here in other threads. I want to see what we're putting on the field at the Spring Game before I renew and I want to know the information up front about what the associated costs are. Otherwise, I may join the gameday walkup crowd...or not.

The issue is not can I figure this out.  The issue is that UNT is actively soliciting me to renew, but makes me unable to do so.

Also, I guess that if (when) they demand that I up my (already renewed) mean green club membership, I'll likely find myself priced out of my own seats.  I've been concerned about this.  I've got four years left on my stadium gift.  If they require my mean green club donation to be a certain level, I'm likely to just throw my arms up in the air, let them continue taking the $86 a month out of my credit card through 2020, and walk away.

I got a kid going to college (and likely TAMS) in the extremely near future.  As in TAMS applications begin this July.  Requiring me to up my contributions to athletics is about to become a much, much lower priority in my life.  Sneaking around with all this cloak and dagger spy nonsense, donor class warfare, and hellaciously poorly run ticket office does not improve my perspective.

I believe the plan is to tie the number of seats you have to the amount that you should pay in yearly MGC membership dues.  If you are paying $500 or more, you'd be eligible for 2 seats.  However, if you want to buy more seats on the Club Level, I bet you'll need to pay at least $1000/yr for 4 seats.

I think in the latest podcast that RV was on, he said that there are something like 3,000 Club Level seats yet there are under 500 MGC members/accts.  That would mean, on average, a single MGC acct has 6 Club level seats.  Keep in mind you are only required to pay $500 in MGC dues plus the costs of your tickets (and your seat license balance if you still owe on that). I do not believe there is a limit for the number of seats you are allowed to purchase unless they are going off of what is currently used for the bowl seats today.

I deleted 3-7 because they really don't matter.  Do they?  :)

Interesting.  I've only got two seats, so whatevs.  I was just reading my agreement, and I explicitly have rights to purchase two seats because of the seat license I paid.  Current agreement reads:

Quote

The right to purchase annual tickets for the use of two (2), Silver club level seats will continue for as long

as this Agreement is in effect, Donor pays the annual ticket prices for seats, Donor maintains

membership in the Mean Green Club at the required level and Donor complies with all rules and

regulations of the University related to club seating.

Notice in bold, it says "at the required level."  So the agreement in and of itself is in perpetuity, but the amount of mean green club membership is subject to change as it is not defined.  I'm not aware of too many people that hold more than two seats to be honest, but I know they exist.  From little more than observation, those tend to be in the more expensive seats closer to the fifty yard line.

I believe the requirement has always been $500 MGC donation per 2 seats, but I could be wrong.

Maybe someone with 4 seats or more can let us know.

Curious what will happen to the guest pass policy.  Didn't need it at all last year, but if we ever start winning games, you never know.

Hard to turn down free money. Why wouldn't you sell tickets if available?

If you recall, they tightened the policy in 2014 because people were making donations/paying mgc membership for 2 seats, then buying 2 more seats for their "guests" each and every game of the season.  So they dropped it down to three games a year, and you were supposed to register your guests at the entrance to prevent any guest from attending more than one game.  I've never, ever had them check guests at the front.

I bet this is raising the MGC donation level. Don't announce it publicly to reduce backlash. Call each seat holder individually to pass along the news.

I'll let y'all know publicly if/when I receive my call.

Let's follow this path

1)  UNT needs money

2)  I decide I'd like to give UNT money

3)  UNT makes it very difficult for me to give them money

4)  I become frustrated by this

5)  UNT tells me I'm a bad fan/alumni/person for this

6)  I eventually get it figured out and give UNT my money

7)  UNT calls me a commoner, a plebeian, a dumbass, and clearly wants nothing to do with me now that they've got my inconsequential donation

8)  We still suck.  At everything

You forgot number 9 & 10....

9)  But we are great at bitching about everything

10) And as fans we are even better at coming up with excuses as to why we won't support the program.

Annnnnnd I am not UNT. Which brings us back to 9 & 10. Just expressing my opinion...just like you.  If you think you have been called a bad fan by anyone that is your right and your understanding of the situation.  Everyone sees and reads things the way they choose.  I find people who look for something bad or negative usually find it.  Something to do with personality and outlook I suspose.

You are mistaken.

11. Because they make us feel like their little bitches, We were essentially still rooting for the worst FBS team in America last season.

12. And as fans, you would think UNT would be kissing everyone's butt to get people in the stadium. Instead, they are acting like we are a bunch of hobos trying to check into the Ritz Carlton.

I do agree that there are the few bad apples that will hate on this program if we went 12-0 and they won an award for customer service. But then again... Maybe there is a reason why we have so many bitchers here recently?

I think that's what's the most frustrating.

I (we?) get more info from you than I have from the athletic department regarding these kinds of things.

I will say I have gotten my first phone call since I started buying season tix in 2011 reaching out to me first. Baby steps.

I received an email telling me they would call me today.  If anybody thinks I should in any way apologize for this thread, I can guarantee it gained attention and has driven action.  I try (not with 100% success) not to just blindly bash the program, but this particular issue is specific, and has been going on for the duration of my time here.  If I've got to be the a-hole to get things moving and bring attention to the importance of customer service, I'll wear that badge with pride.

In this case, I would hope they would be reactionary.

I would hope they would know what the hell they were doing before sending an email to club seat holders saying "click here to renew," but that is just me.
