A lot of coaches in established programs do have my mindset, and don't have to gamble on fall JUCOs who have yet to complete their eligibility requirements.

Telling yourself otherwise is just swigging a bunch of green kool aid to make yourself feel better about a challenging situation.

That said, this is a good get for the recruiting situation UNT is in this year. Gives me a glimmer of hope for what will happen Wednesday.

100% agree most coaches don't have to gamble on fall jucos. Unfortunately this may be the best option for us at this point in time. High school recruits won't help us next year and we wouldn't get enough quality guys to fill up the class anyways.

We're getting plenty of guys with more experience who should be bigger, faster, stronger than your average high school recruit. Basically this is the staff saying we are going to win early or we're going to go down HARD.

It's a huge gamble but at least they are all in. They buy into their plan and that gives me hope for the next two or three years. We just need to hope these guys provide immediate success (around 6 wins) and that come next spring we are signing a class of 30 solid recruits.

We should be happy with 3 wins. That's the hole UNT is in right now.

QB, DT, LB will all be improved! A line up at DT 313lbs, Lb 6'2" 225lbs and a strong safety at 200lbs Size looks sweet on D! Could b an EK of a D! 4-5 wins

Then this staff will be disappointed very quickly, not only with next year's results, but with the culture they run into throughout the athletic department. Hope they don't burn out too quickly...

All unproven players. We could say that every year. As a matter of fact, that's what a lot of you said when DS signed last year. And then he couldn't beat out McNulty.

What happens if Morris can't beat out Smith?

I am expecting greatly improved Qb play no matter who starts. As has been discussed this is an offensive system that will let non Cam Newton types excel, but we would be happy with just average college Qb production.

A new system won't magically improve bad accuracy and no touch on passes, which is what we saw all year from Smith.

If Morris (or some other recruit) doesn't beat out Smith, don't look for great improvement at the QB position.

In a sense it can improve accuracy because you are throwing to spots with timing. I am also feel confident that the coaches will game plan to the  offense strengths and not plug them in a fixed system. I back this up with where Seth has coached and how the offense adapted in those programs. We have heard for years that he is a system Qb can't make it in the pros. Give me a SYSTEM QB! PLEASE

There are some basic flaws in DS that can't be fixed wothout a TON of work. According to the last staff, work wasn't one of DS's strong points.

Point being that you sound like the magic football G5 ferry was just going to make a pass over Apogee and sprinkle special ferry dust that will make everything go perfectly for Seth Littrell and his QBs. Not going to happen.

Pray that Alec Morris legitimately wins the job and has a little something. Even then, I see this as a 3 win season. Tops.

I know you don't want to hear this, but it's going to take this staff some time. Hope to be bowl eligible by year three.
