another place he got screwed was NBA Jam...I mean, good Gary Payton is your long-time team(soul)mate and yet you have to play 2-on-2 with Benoit Benjamin or Detlif Schrimpf?

no wonder he got fat and had so many fun-babies

Don't get me started..... That one went straight in the trash until Tournament Edition  came out and teamed him up with the Glove.  At that point only the saltiest of competitors even stood a chance rolling out the Sean Elliot Spurs against you

I don't think anyone is panicking.  I think we're just settled into reality:  Littrell is obviously not going to recruit us out of the ditch we're in.

Speaking of Tulane, they have this going for them as well:  They are not in the C-USA.

Yes, I know that getting into the C-USA was supposed to be better.  In terms of more bowl opportunities, it is better.  But, in reality, the C-USA that was is now The America Athletic.  And, the C-USA now is Sun Belt 2.0 and start-ups/move-ups.  Recruits know this - and are probably reminded of it by opposing coaching staffs during recruiting.

(Again...thank you commish Banowksy for sleeping at the wheel.)

We'll see how Fritz's offense works week in and week out against better competition. But, one thing is for sure, Tulane is putting together a pretty nice class, while we are getting what we've gotten in the past.

One thing about CUSA that is nice for us is that it does give us division games with four teams that were clearly above us on the FBS totem pole: La Tech, USM, Rice, and UTEP. Obviously, UTSA wasn't, but its at least another conference game in Texas. This setup, even if it disappoints when it turned out to be different than what we thought it would be when we finally got invited, is still light years better than any conference setup we have had since the Missouri Valley of the 60s.

CUSA West is not bad at all, especially if UAB get back up and rolling and stays in our division--UTSA is the only school that is a newer entrant to FBS. Its CUSA East that just sucks, once you get past Marshall, MUTS, and WKU. The F_Us, ODU, and Charlotte don't even register on anyone' radar, not that the other three teams in the East bring extra fans here when they play or attract local fans to come here, but at least they have all done something decent in football and don't sound like they are named after airports...

I know.  I agree 100%.  But, really Middle Tenn and WKU don't register much here either.  Really.

That's why I've said, dump the charade between the C-USA and Sun Belt.  Restructure the two conference so that they make more sense regionally.

The American Athletic is above us.  It is the old C-USA.  Some may not like that, but...that's the mess Banowsky allowed to happen while he fell asleep at the wheel.  So, forget about trying to get AAC teams to get into any further conference shuffling by the current C-USA and Sun Belt.

Admit we are conferences of teams nobody else wants, and divide up in a more logical, regional fashion.  It's that simple.

We f*cked up.  In the 80s, we f*cked up.  We got way, way far behind.  Rick Villarreal, for all the sins everyone accuses him of committing, has at least brought us out of the Stone Age in the way of facilities.  But, he - or, anyone - had a tall task in trying to make up ground for two decades worth of adminitrative f*ck ups re: NTSU/UNT athletics.

Time to let it go, like the Frozen song says, and do things that make more sense for where we have ended up because of the f*ck ups. To me, being in an athletic conference with Old Dominion and UNC-Charlotte when Texas State is just down I-35 a few hours, and Arkansas State and Louisiana are in states that border us is stupidity of the highest order.

Banowsky...the guy's brain was made of plastic dick cheese.  What was he doing?  Thinking?
