I thought he had a bright future here. Redshirted this year, but I figured he would put on weight and contribute eventually. Kind of a risk to transfer to Tech. Coach Bro might not be there long term.

OUCH.  That's not very cool of KP but if that is where the kid wants to be...

Kid is from West(ish) Texas. If his family is okay with paying tuition I'm sure it makes a lot of sense with KP there now.

Mccarney's recruiting is often criticized, as it should be, but his roster management was awful as well. We signed just 2 high school DEs between 3 classes (2013, 2014, and 2015). 2 defensive ends in 3 classes. And now one is gone.

We've got just 6 scholarship DEs including Wheeler and former walkon Flusche. Of those 6, 3 are seniors and 3 are juniors. Very top heavy there. We really could use a couple good high school DEs this class, but we don't even have a DL coach. Rough spot right now.

If I remember correctly, I think this was the kid that committed, then backed out, then went on a few visits, then committed again, then didn't do a whole lot.  The roster actually shows him as a Sophmore, so he may not have redshirted (but knowing the mistakes with our website you never know).

Too bad, it would have been nice to see if he had progressed.  He had decent size.

It has been very disappointing with the background of Mac and KP, we have had trouble at Attracking DTs. As stated many times DT may be the hardest position to recruit. With this offensive scheme we will get better players on that side of the ball, but the real key to success is will we be able to do the same on the defensive side! Is there a DL coach that can bring the same credibility that Graham brings to the Qb position? Hire him and need be add the title of assistant head coach!

2015 class.  6-4, 250 according to rivals.  Not sure what our roster showed.  This is a bad thing to lose him.

• Was the District 3-6A Defensive MVP as a senior with 61 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, six sacks and one interception
• Named to the All-West Texas Super Team
• Was a team captain
• His junior season he had 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks and named to the 2-5A first-team all-district.

Patrick has shown his true colors, not impressed with his coaching or how he has left the program.  He will be missed as a recruiter, but not much more in my book.  Howard showed his true colors during last recruiting season.  See ya.

Yup. He redshirted. Our AD is awful about that. I remember in 2014 Wylie Reinhardt was listed as a true sophomore. I used to think "I don't remember him playing last year as a true freshman.

Then that year when we played UTEP, Reinhardt was put in the game at the end and blocked on one of Wilson's TD runs. Then after the game he posted on Twitter about getting his first game action in his career. Just one example, and there are plenty.

Let's keep in mind, Patrick helped us land Bryce English among others so he deserves credit for that.  Just wished he would have kept out of this Eli one.

So walking on is greater than a scholarship here...that sucks ass...oh well...if the boy doesn't want to be here, so be it...

What's that supposed to mean?  How do you know how much KP had to do with getting Howard to Tech?

Doubt it's just a coincidence. Both can kick rocks. So dumb to convince kids to walk away from a scholarship and walk into paying for tuition. Is this really having the best intention for the kid?

Again, you have no idea if he did that.  What if Howard was planning on leaving the program anyway, found out that KP was taking the Tech job, and asked him to get him in as a walk-on?  I'm not saying that's exactly what happened, but with the quality of D-linemen KP will have to work with at Tech, I have to doubt that he was all that desperate to get Eli Howard there.

I don't doubt it for a second. Funny how my scenario is quickly unlikely, but yours is written like fact.

This is going to sound like sour grapes, but it's the honest truth:

I made sure to keep an eye on him during those periscope vids they put out last year since he was a 3* guy and we were battling for him until the very end...
He got manhandled by every single OT he went up against.  You may say, "But MeanGreenTexan, he was just a freshman!  He took a redshirt!  He just needed to develop!"  All true, but Young, Wegmann & Harrison(now gone) were in his same boat and were able to at least get some kind of pressure.
Maybe he'll be a late bloomer... but I kinda doubt it.

I honestly don't think we'll miss him, and I highly doubt he makes any kind of impact at Tech either.
