If the TV money comes in low as has been rumored, here are a few possible scenarios I could see for CUSA schools....

Option 1......CUSA stays as it is. IMO...that's not likely.

Option 2......CUSA adds two more schools (1 in each division) to get the league to 16 which will allow the east and west division to operate under one umbrella but more like two separate leagues from a travel/competition standpoint. We would only play one cross division game per year in football. Potential adds....Texas State, Louisiana, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, JMU or Mac school.

Option 3......CUSA East and West decide to split and a new conference would have to be started. A lot of moving parts for something like this....TV contract, bowl affiliations, NCAA bid etc.

Option 4......The least likely of all the scenarios but one that has some interesting thought......The Atlantic 10. At one time they sponsored football. Would the Atlantic 10 consider sponsoring football again? This time at the FBS level? UMass is hanging out there. Could the Atlantic 10 learn from the pitfalls of the Big East to come up with a model that really works for all involved?...

1. UMass........Already a member
2. Army.........Would play as a football only.
3. Charlotte....Former A-10 Member
4. ODU..........Back in the fold with George Mason and VCU
5. Marshall.....Football and regionally correct
6. Ohio..........Football and regionally correct
7. WKU..........Basketball tradition. Regionally correct.
8. ????...........Could be one of many teams of interest of the A-10. Toledo, Miami, UAB, a Florida school like FAU???

That scenario drops CUSA back to a manageable 9-10 teams....Food for thought.....

I just wish somebody with power would step in and fix the conference mess! They need a board or something who can create 12 relatively equal conferences based on regions. Of course that just makes to much sense though. You would also always have whiners like NT90 who don't want to be associated with this team or that team.

North Texas needs to be vying for any backdoor whatsoever. This conference seems like it is on the verge of just blowing up. We can't afford to stand around and be one of the guys left in the dust.
