Wait...I thought this guy was at the center of the grade scandal that landed dirty cheating schmoo a postseason ban.  I understand he's good, but I'm struggling to understand how this is good for UNT.  Can someone with more knowledge of the situation please fill us in?

From what I've read, the course he failed wouldn't have even made him ineligible and this was on SMU administration. Don't forget the reason we got Tony Mitchell was academics as well. Don't like only a semester of eligibility though.

I'd take Frazier (5-star according to rivals), Reese (4-star), Ricky Brice Jr., and Combs with a new coach next season any day.

Welp, probably could have been clearer with your previous tweet then.

I wondered about that.  Need to be careful with what you put out there, especially if you work for the media.

Dallas Morning News and others had already ran with it. I think his source recanted and he's saving face now. Sadly i don't expect the local media to do air tight coverage with anything related to North Texas, See: Doug Meacham.

How much eligibility does he have left?

He played 10 games this year, which means he will have played more than 25% of SMU's games this year (especially because of the postseason ban). So he shouldn't be eligible for any sort of waiver to get him a redshirt this year, especially considering the circumstances of why he's not playing do not constitute any type of "hardship."

He will have to sit out one more semester for transfer rules, and has one season of eligibility left. If he sits out next semester and then plays once the fall semester ends then he'd get a shortened season for his senior year. Or he could sit all of next year and then be eligible for the entirety of the 2017-2018 season.

look like multiple sources saying a semester.

Chalk this one up as a meh.  Read an article earlier about his nuances and habits while on SMU's team and honestly could care less if he comes this way. Production wasn't that great either.

Yes - he has had his share of problems, but think about him and Combs playing together in the same lineup and it is hard not to be excited.

Remember Shawnson Johnson?  Transferred from LSU with one semester of eligibility left.  I always wished we had him longer. If Frazier could make the same type of impact I would not mind him as a single semester guy.

Tony Mitchell had far more academic issues and could have been (should have) a half a semester impact player. No one was negative then....

Tony Mitchell never got a school in trouble... although the coach @ Mizzou was getting ready to start.

Keith Fraizer to UNT is a strong possibility.

The Connections are there: Benford and Snoop Johnson(Former Kimball Coach) are friends.

The DOBO (Sheldon) and Erven Davis (UNT Alumni) are friends. Sheldon supposedly helped with Ryan Woolridge transfer from San Deigo.

Think about this starting line for next year for conference:

1)J'Michael Reese/Ryan Woolridge

2) Deckie Johnson/J'Michael Brown

3) Keith Frazier/AJ Lawson

4) Jeremey Combs

5) Rickey Brice

That's what has been going through my mind as well.  It's hard not to get excited about that.

Connection go along way in life

I heard Frazier is a good kid, just in a bad situation caused by adults.

Sheldon also worked with Davis at Dallas Showtime. If will be interesting to see if the connections will pay off? If they do, and NT can get someone to back up Combs, and no injuries 2016-2017 could be very exciting.
