You should have said over half, because remember,  these 17 that you speak of have provided millions of dollars because they put themselves first instead of supporting the University and it's student athletes.  I mean it's all about paying for access to a "drinking buddy" for me.

You must think Deloss Dodds, generally considered the best athletic director ever, was terrible. He fired over over 3/4 of all the head coaches he ever hired.

Yeah, that's exactly the same...

And if you ask UT fans about DeLoss Dodds right now, most of them will tell you that he left them in very bad shape. He completely missed on the realignment mess and with the LHN. Now, UT is stuck with the kids that A&M got away from to the SEC, knowing full well that when the times comes for the big XII to implode and they have offers to go to the Pac-12, B1G, or ACC, that they have to figure out how to deal with potential lawsuits from Baylor, TCU, and/or Tech being left behind.

But I do know that under DeLoss Dodds, since he was Men's AD only, UT won national championships in football and baseball, while also going to the Final Four in mens hoops. He cultivated the largest budget in collegiate sports, allowing him to fire Cliff Gustafson, Fred Akers, David McWilliams, John Mackovic, Bob Weltlich, and Tom Penders. He didn't fire Mack Brown or Rick Barnes, that was done by Steve Patterson. He fired 6 people in his revenue sports...equal to RV...

And don't forget multiple .500 seasons get you fired at UT.

The same would get you an extension at UNT.

Hell, not even getting to .500 has gotten extensions at UNT--see Dickey, McCarney, and RV. And if he can do it, RV would gladly extend Benford, who can't even get over that pesky .500 hurdle with some of the weakest schedules that we have ever seen--and he still might get extended at the end of this season, although its incredibly doubtful.

What an idiot. Withers is a great hire.

Chris made a good point, that he has every right to withdraw because of the choice. The shame in the situation is that this dude most likely didn't even do any research on Withers or what he brings to the table. Just left ship because he was an FCS coach.

I bet that same donor was probably ecstatic about Fran because he had more skins on the wall. Too bad Fran, similarly to Mac, wasn't a good fit to be a head coach in present day, regardless of past accomplishments.

I bet it was more of a "I wanted to hire <xyz guy> with my money, and you guys hired Withers instead".   Likely didn't have as much to do with him being an FCS coach as it did not being 'Fields' guy.'  But he's not going to tweet out, "I wanted <xyz> guy, but they hired Withers instead, so I'm taking my money and going home."

So do I understand that some think a gift comes with some kind of warranty ?  If certain terms are not met, which may or not be expressed when the gift is made, the giver has the implied right to take the gift back ?  How long does this implied warranty last ?  30 days ?  1 year ?  10 years ?  Is a "gift" to the Mean Green Club revolvable ?  Do Christmas gifts fall under this same line of thinking ?

As I understand it, when you make a "gift," it immediately becomes the property of the receiver. When you give them a check as a gift, once they deposit it the money is theirs and you can't take it back. If you have a contract where you say "I'll give you $X for you to do action Y," that's not a gift. I can't imagine a college agreeing to a contract instead of a gift. Everything I've seen is pretty specific that money is donated - gifted - to the university. There might be a mandatory donation, but it's still a donation. Once your cash is in their hands, its theirs to do with as they want. If you don't like what they do with it, don't give them anymore. Often gifts are made in installments which allow the giver more control since the receiver has to do what the giver wants to get the rest of the money.

If you give an adult a Christmas gift, it's theirs to do with as they want. If you want it back, it's up to them to decide if they will return it. If you give your own minor child a Christmas gift, that' different.

I'm not an attorney and could be wrong, but this is what actual attorney's have told me. At least I think it was what they said as they never, EVER say anything clearly and definitively.
