I want call for his firing in November, but if we are sitting there at 2-8 I will be highly skeptical moving forward. I will say that. With this schedule, you can't give me 1 good enough reason as to why we can't get to AT LEAST 4 wins.

Seems as though Cerebus knows it too early to give a grade, but wanted a poll to track how opinions change over time.

Since @Cerebus isn't posting GIFs of psychopathic killers he has (finally) gone off the deep end or just really busy right now.

Besides, it's way too early to grade this hire.

Though it's normal and expected that we'd be enthusiastic about a new coach, I think most of us are even more excited than normal because of the who we hired and how his staff appears to be coming together.  Frankly, I think we made a better hire than other schools that I would consider our equals if not bigger/better than us.

I think 90 is pretty accurate, but I hope he is wrong about the "falling off a cliff" after the SMU game.  I think most people are at least somewhat realistic as to where the program is at.  I mean, I'm called an optimist because I predict a 4 win season next year.  The bar is obviously very low and I hope people will base this year on improvement rather than wins/losses.

We have people giving him an A+ and "trusting his judgement because he is a great hire," and you think they won't turn on a dime after the first bad loss?

Fan boards are reactionary by nature, especially this one.

I think that's obvious, but it's still interesting to get different perspectives...even this early in his tenure.  It will be very interesting to look back on this at various points in his tenure.  If Cerebus keeps up the polls as he indicated, it will be fun to see at what point people jump on/off of the bandwagon.

Bottom line:  It's early January and not much is happening.  At least the poll is a talking point, regardless of how relevant (or irrelevant) it might be.

A-... He is getting people that there was no way the former staff could have brought in.  I want to give him higher... but I will wait and see what he brings in for NSD.

Hahaha, this was my exact thought process and I said A- too.

wow.  You may never be happy.  Enjoy the momentum.  It is nice to finally have something to read that isn't RV sucks, we suck, Jerseys suck, it all sucks.  He is busting his butt and his staff is too.  Once the dead period ends Billy is going to a very busy man.

I am a very happy person.

With that said, sitting at 2-8 in November is unacceptable to me and my crazy standards of simply winning more than we lose. And I don't care what year a coach is in. That is an overblown and overused excuse. Good coaches adapt to what they have and roll with it. No excuses.

I am enjoying the momentum a ton. Littrell and Co seem to be busting their butts off indeed. And, RV does suck.

You would likely make for a horrible AD.  Bad decisions like the 'ECU AD bad'. Context is everything.

Art Brilies- 4-8 his first 2 years at Baylor.  Would he be gone?

Bill Snyder-1-10 his first year at KSU.  I bet they are glad they held on to him.

Mack Brown- 1-10 at UNC his first 2 seasons.  They seemed to be happy with that hire.

Tommy Tuberville - 5-6 in his first season at Auburn

Bobby Petrino - 5-7 in his first season at Arkansas

Justin Fuente - 4-8 in his first season at Memphis followed by a 3-9 his second season.

Mike Gundy 4-7 his first season at OSU.

Kirk Ferentz - 1-10 at Iowa his first season.

Rich Rodriguez - 3-8 in his first season at West Virginia

Sonny Dykes - 1-11 in his first season at Cal.

Les Miles - 4-7 first season at OSU

I am sure all of those Athletic Departments were happy with what they brought after poor beginning years.

I said I will not be calling for his firing after 1 season regardless of the outcome. But if you want to build on the little amount of momentum we currently do have with the new hire and recruiting trend we can't afford to go anywhere close to 1-11 again. We have to show signs of significant improvement THIS season to maintain. It's just the way it is and I don't create hype or trends. But a 1-11 or 2-10 season will kill all of that.
