Didn't UNC end up being down 2 or 3 DTs? Question no answer I was working but heard through Twitter verse that they were down.

It's hilarious because Baylor had one arm tied behind their back, piecemealing together what they only could do..(run the Wildcat offense),,..UNC knew what was coming and still couldn't stop it.

Its why the announcers kept bringing this point up over and over all game long.  It was an amazing job of coaching for the Baylor staff.

Great game.

Serious Questions:

What does that have to do with us?

How does this tie in to Fritz not being here?

They were clearly missing Derek Thompson out there. Would have been a pretty easy win with one of him in the backfield, let alone the newfangled WildDerek with 2/3 at once.

To answer your actual question, yes - they didn't have Nazair Jones for the game. Not sure about the others.

I can always count on you for excellent responses. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

For most of the Texas game and last night it sure was.

I don't like Baylor.  But I have to say that whoever came up with the massive "adjustments" for their offense, and then "implemented it" through training/coaching in such a short period of time is pretty much a genius from my point of view. Of course, it helped a lot that Baylor was very deep in offensive talent.

I haven't seen this kind of "adjusting" since we played Tulsa at the end of 82. And just for that game, Corkey Nelson ditched his ineffective veer and put in a 2-3 step-and-throw passing game. The result was a record setting day for Rusty Hill 61/42 (still tied for 2nd for attempts and still #1 for completions) and receiver Marvin Walker 22 receptions (still number one for single game receptions).

We lost the game 38-20, but it was close through the 3rd quarter and it could have gotten real ugly if we had stuck with the veer for that game.

I certainly hope that our new coach and OC take a close look at the film of that Baylor/UNC game.

It was exaggerated without a QB for sure those last two games but all year they've had one of the best rushing teams in the country and would have had one of the best passing offenses too if their QB didn't go down. That team is a force to reckon with for a few years to come because they are also winning many recruiting battles in Texas now.

Agree.  And that us why I wonder why our OC kept getting a pass by a lot of people on here.  Considering Mac has coached mobile QBs that can run in the past, and was part of a ship with one who's strength was running, I seriously doubt he would have been against a running offense like Baylor had last night.

There is no excuse.  Look at the talent and put the best system our there that can get the best talent in position to make plays.  Baylor was using RBs, Wrs, anybody that could make a play in space.

Thing is...Mac was so set in his ways he would have never agreed to allow 5 different players take the snap.  No way in hell, therefore Thera no way he would have approved that adjustment to overcome their shortfall of injuries to key players.  He would have been perfectly fine rolling out his usual bullshit vanilla offense and taken a beating.

Why should our new coach and OC take a close look at that game?  Do we have Baylor or UNC on our schedule?

Can't stand Baylor but love their team speed.

Will our new uniforms have the UNC diamond/argyle pattern in green?

What does "holy hell" mean?

Totally agree with this assessment. It was running, but it was innovative. Mac would have said no.

Which included running the ball over and over again even though your offensive lineman don't have anywhere near the size or athleticism that Baylor's and LSU's do. Those 5 players did great, but their offensive line was so much bigger and athletic than UNC's that they just manhandled them. That's the difference between a program like that and ours.

No.  Give McCarney the same team including the same players facing the same injury situation and he would have run his same offense we ran and would have made the same 3rd or 4th string QB try and make throws he can't make and reads he couldn't read..etc.

One thing we can agree with is anything ran in college football was better than what McCarney was throwing out there with this team. Triple Option, Air Raid, Spread Option, whatever. McCarney had to have been the last college coach still running a run-first (and second, and third) pro-style offense.

Taking a snap from center requires being inside the DMac circle of trust. Unless DMac was close friends with 5 kids fathers, they weren't in the circle of trust.

No way 5 kids take a snap from center in a season, much less a game.

5, no way. Now 3, well it's the magic number for Mac QBs playing in a season...

What about the McCaughey boys? I spy four large Iowa-born sons that would have been perfect...
