China Uses a Video Game to Punish Anti Party Thinking

I have been stunned by the implications of Sesame Credit a new game that will become mandatory to play in China in 2021.   I have also really struggled to put those implications into words, I think this video from Extra Credits does a good job covering the major points:

I don't understand why they refer to it as a game.  I see it as a life-scoring system, analagous to credit-scoring.  Certainly social networking is implied.  And absolutely, insidious.
