Are we giving these guys raises, or are they coming to North Texas for the opportunity to be coordinators?

Last season at Washington State, Harrell was making $211,500. Our last offensive coordinator was making $190,000

Ekeler was making $275,000 at Georgia in 2015, while Cosh received $180,000.

I think it is interesting that we are attracting coaches that appear to be higher up on the food chain. Thoughts?

Either way, it is a good situation for each of them.  They get to add coordinator to the resume at roughly the same salary.

If they win, the next step is P5 coordinator.  If not, they will always be able to go back to P5 position coach.

My hope is that they win big here and in 4-5 years we are looking to replace them.

It will be interesting to see the final numbers in their contracts. Thoughts?

I think the boosters are just like the fan base they are tired of being mediocre. They realize we have zero excuses any more. We have towards the tops in enrollment in conference USA. Amazing location right outside of the DFW area. Top of the line facilities for a mid level not P5 program. Anybody that was at the Heart of Dallas bowl saw the sea of green and can tell there is mean green fans hungry for success. and Maybe it is Seth and this young energetic coaching staff are the ones to awake the sleeping dragon that UNT has been referred to. I think we should be happy and excited for what the future hold for mean green athletics. I believe the new President hands were all over this hire and the Mean Green Football program are headed in the right direction. We cant keep looking at past failures. Like Coach Littrell said to the players it is a new day and clean slate its a new era. Your are welcome for my daily dose of sunshine pumping.

Mac fought for raise for all of his staff after the bowl win and again to start this season. The AD shot him down every time he tried. It would be very interesting if they pay them more. I am wondering what Patrick and Perry will receive if the new hires get raises. Perry and Patrick were safe the day Littrell landed, but I never was told anything about their pay.

Keep in mind that Ekeler was probably going to be unemployed at the end of the season.  Even though we don't know if he was offered a chance to stay or not, the fact is that if he wasn't sure or if he was told he was leaving with Richt, then even if it's a little bit less than he was making, it's a smart move for him to grab a guaranteed DC position rather than waiting around to see if something better comes along (or possibly hold out hope that he'd be retained by the new HC at Georgia if he hadn't been assured of his exit already).

he might of been let go by Georgia as was Richt but he wasn't going to be unemployed long.

I was aware both Chico and Skladany got two year deals.  Not sure about the rest.

Your right.... I remember you getting sidelines passes and working the spring game. Oh I also remember you working the camp in the summer. You were at Macs house... You watched his dogs while he and his wife traveled to Florida (often). Your right.... Yea you were at the banquet too. Oh I forgot you also talked to Patrick and Perry to find out if they were staying.... Your right.... I remember you doing all of these things....

No one else got a raise. Outside of being able to google most people on here have no clue! Granted at this point I will be out of the loop unless we make a certain hire for defensive coordinator... Otherwise no connections at the moment.

Right, and I kind of alluded to this, but the fact is that even if we offered less than he was making, there was no guarantee that if he held out that whatever position he might have picked up later would have paid as well as the one at Georgia did either.  So it's safer to take our DC position, as long as it's not an offensively huge pay cut, rather than hold out and be unsure if whomever else came calling would be offering more, since he could have ended up with a lower paid/lower ranking position with whatever other offers came after ours.

you're* (couldn't resist!) I was under the impression that after joseph and walters left, the guys that came in were being payed a bit more than they were.
