I was going to mention this yesterday, but this game worries me, mostly because it's supposed to be one of our few remaining expected wins, it's at home, and they're probably mad that they still haven't won a game yet...is it a trap game?

Glad the guys are pulling away now, but wow, REALLY have to work on those free throws still if they want to break a few more wins this season.  20% is dismal.

Mississippi Valley State 28

NT 45

At the half

FG 18-31 58.1% 3FG 6-14 42.9% FT 3-10 30.0% 23 Rebs 14 Assts

They said they have been trying to work with the players on their FT shotting.  We are second to last in CUSA and #339 out of #351 in the nation. Coming into today's game the team is at 60%.

I like Reese as a player I really do -- but I have to admit -- I'd hoped he would lower our turnovers.  Perhaps as he acclimates and in time that will improve.  Deckie seems to be heating up as the season progresses.  I'm interested to see how well Brice holds up against the C-USA competition.  So far Brice has been a pleasant surprise.

I'm gonna experiment with a graphing script against my stats DB to see what cool things I can create.   It be neat to see how players progress (or digress) over a season.

This was Miss Valley State's third highest scoring game so far this season.  They've averaged 62.9 per game.

This doesn't exactly give me great confidence in our defensive play.

You gotta look at the bigger picture folks...

The most important aspect of this game is the AD dept got it over with and the workers at the Coal Mine on Bonnie Brea can get out of town for Christmas break as soon as possible.

Priorities!!!!!

Box score says attendance was 2,180.  Are they counting no-show DISD tickets?

just adding season ticket holders to the count as usual.  Not near 2,180 actual bodies, but actually more than I expected.  Especially since DISD messed up the date.  We are not the only school who does one of these early games.  As I stated earlier, ODU had about 8,000...mostly Norfolk ISD kids in attendance for a 10:30am tip-off game this season already.  Some kids did show for this one, and were loud as usual, and seemed to have a great time.  Hopefully, next year the DISD folks will be back in full force.  My guess...and I am bad at crowd estimation mind you....about 600.  Maybe Army of Dad and Army of Mom, who also attended, could give you a guess as well.

We did have Kenny Lyons "coaching" from behind the UNT bench throuhout the game, which did add a bit of fun.  It was his first game of the year...free admission day.  Several of us miss seeing him "coach" now that SUMG no longer attends and provides him tickets. At one point he was really "coaching up" Ricky Brice, who probably wondered who the guy was.  Benford probably had to clue all the new guys in on who that big guy "coaching" throughout the game was.  Too bad Kenny doesn't have more of a role to play with the team these days.  I wonder if the "Mailman" remembers the day that Lyons "schooled" him on the court?  Greatness right there folks and a reason why Kenny is in the UNT HOF.

Mark...Kenny is well aware that you stabbed him in the back several years ago,....and you already wormed your way into the Knight Award,..so you can stop trying to suck up to everyone now.

Rick

And everyone is aware of exactly what you are.  Again...you were not there, you have no clue what you are talking about, so why don't you just give it a rest?  You are making a bigger fool of yourself with each comment.  Why so jealous of my Ulys Knight award?  You seem to be fixated on whatever I do in support of UNT while you do not attend, you are no longer a member of the Mean Green Club nor Alumni Association, right? Why do you even care?

Kenny and I had a nice chat yesterday.  If your poison had an any effect on him, he certainly didn't reflect any.  He's smart enough to be able to see who is there supporting UNT and who isn't.  He even stopped by on the way out after the game to chat a bit more. How about giving it a rest?  Your ignorance of the matter is embarrassing for you.
