Biggest need: UNT just flat needs talent. The Mean Green didn’t have a single player named to the All-Conference USA first or second teams this season, marking the first time UNT has been in a conference and not had a player earn that distinction since 1957. Part of the problem was that UNT didn’t have a coach around to push for his players after Dan McCarney was let go, but a lack of UNT players on the team was telling. UNT isn’t losing many key players to graduation this year, but the ones who are seniors are some of UNT’s best. Wide receiver Carlos Harris finished his career as one of the most prolific players in program history. Tight end Marcus Smith and tackle Michael Banogu won’t be easy to replace, either. UNT needs to restock quickly.
