Back when I was still holding out hope for Brad Smiley I noticed that Joey McGuire was listed as one of Smiley's professional references. I really liked the idea at the time of adding McGuire. And I still do.

Turned down a job at Texas last year. I would love him, but does he make more at Cedar Hill then he would at UNT? If he turned down Texas why jump at UNT? If Littrell lands him or a good DFW HS coach we could be in business.  His offensive staff is going to be good regardless.

We would allow him to stay in the area.

There's not only a connection with Lee Fedora but Litrell is close with the coach at Celina.

McGuire passed up UT, he ain't coming here. He wants to coach his boy through his senior year.

There's a certain Denton coach on that list that would make an outstanding college offensive coordinator. By sheer coincidence, that coach has a 5th year senior son that was a starting quarterback, and doing incredibly well, before he was injured in his second game of his junior year and missed the remainder of the season. That son could be eligible for a hardship 6th year to play a fourth season, and as a graduate would be eligible to transfer anywhere and play immediately.

Maybe just a pipe dream, but possibly a great opportunity for all involved.

I said I liked the idea of adding him, not that it's likely. Lol.

I am still a little gunshy about having a coordinator come from the high school ranks.  Although having a HS head coach as a coordinator would be a little better than trying to make the jump from HS coordinator to FBS coordinator.

An offensive coordinator would be protected since Seth will probably call the plays and layout the plan for the offense (assuming he's the hire).  It would be a good spot to bring in someone if the "offensive coordinator" title was important.

Yeah, If it's a local HS coach we are hiring, make him the QB coach.
