I think the scarier part of this is that we are all assuming it is a foregone conclusion that Littrell will be the coach in less than a week, when in all reality there's a very real possibility we get a Bruce Chambers type hire

Real possibility of a Bruce Chambers hire? Excuse me but just stop. He isnt a finalist and never was a finalist. You dont have Meacham, Frost, and Littrell as finalist and end up with Chambers. You just dont. There is no reality of Chambers. I get it we have a below average AD, but he isnt calling the shots. Back away from the ledge. Stop listening to the negativity. Even if Littrell falls through we still wont end up with a guy like Chambers.

From the sounds of it, we had a pretty nice lineup of coaches we spoke with.  Based on confirmed/rumored interviews, the list included:

Seth Littrell
Doug Meacham
Scott Frost
Kendall Briles
Lincoln Riley
Mike Jinks

That looks like a pretty nice list to me.  Are there any missing?

To clarify I know that Littrell is basically the only guy they're pursuing at this point. I have all the confidence in the world that it's all but 100% done. I just hope that Smatresk doesn't allow RV to RV things up, i.e. a Chambers hire.

This is a fact. It's clear now to EVERYONE in the college football world that Littrell is the choice. I hope he has signed on the dotted line...

Thoughts on Iowa?

Iowa played one FCS team.

Granted, we were worse than a lot of FCS teams this year, but we are still a member of the big club.

Of course UNC is best known for their BB teams but they have had some pretty good football teams as well. They had a long run beginning about 1970 and ending in the mid-80's where they were ranked in the top 20 about every year, including some number 3 rankings if I recall correctly.
