footballscoop.com reported this morning that Oregon OC Scott Frost Interviewed for UNT job. Frost eventually accepted the head coaching job at UCF. At least we are swinging for the fences.

Frost has no Texas ties as a coach. I'm glad he ended up somewhere else. UNT needs someone with experience recruiting here and an understanding of what it takes to compete in this state.

This says two things.

1. Upping the $$$ involved has attracted a much better pool of candidates than we have had in the past. We have interviewed 3 OCs from some of the most dynamic P5 offenses in the country. Last time around we wouldn't have sniffed these types of coaches. A thank you to the BOR and President are in order for upping the ante.

2. We are not settling for scraps. We are taking the plunge this time around. You never know if the prom queen wants to go out on a date if you don't ask her.

Yep.  Makes me excited not just for this hire but for future hires ... not just in football.
