JC could be named our HC and UNT90 would complain about the length of the contract.

Harry I think you hit the nail on the head. UNT90 is not going to be happy unless RV is gone - no matter who we hire.

Everything I have heard from people close to this said RV has nothing to do with this hire, he is a figure head AD only making only the press statements that Smatresk gives him to announce.

I won't be completely happy either until RV is gone at this point. Knowing that RV did not have his hand in this makes me happier though.

Littrell is more of a recruiter than Meacham. He has also recruited from all over the country, including Texas, which is never a bad thing. He brought some rather impressive names to Indiana during his time there.

I like Littrell, but I think I'd still prefer Meacham.

Littrell probably is a better national recruiter, but we all know UNT isn't known for racking up airline miles to recruit players from across the country. Meacham would be better connected to the coaches and schools in DFW where we focus most of our recruiting efforts. Both have produced great offenses, but I like that Meacham has also done it at the lower levels in college football, where Power 5 talent is scarce.

Just my opinion on the hire.

For some reason the website won't give me +1's tonight but I would give you one if I could.  I am so ready to have someone at quarterback who can give us hope.

+1's have been suspended for UNT90 until a new coach signs a contract

Not sure, but I hear he' managed some amazing comeback in only 3 days after everybody left him for dead.

I can definitely see the argument for Meacham.

No, but the Holy Trinity wouldn't be the same without him.

Don't we play them at Apogee in a couple of years?

OVERRATED. You said it yourself... JC was the original retread hire. If he was so great, he wouldn't have needed a 2nd chance to make that comeback.

Granted... We need a miracle worker here. But can we really count on someone who needed maximum divine intervention to make his plan work? He wouldn't get those sort of resources here.

Now, if you give me a prophet that's had to make do with less? THEN we can talk. We need a Zoroaster, a Nestorius, or possibly a Mahavira. But has RV so much as called a single one of them? I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

Glad you're starting to see this. He'll do just fine recruiting over here, even if his last job was multiple states away.

Unlikely, but I wonder if Littrell could lure Nathan Elliott back home?

I'll be keeping an eye on that

I can think of another UNC coach who came to Texas and did pretty well recruiting further south on IH35.  I don't recall his having much history in Texas until then.

Didn't know much about him but the more I researched the more it seems like he's been the guy hitting the road recruiting for North Carolina. Nothing I've read indicates Meacham was a recruiter, but I was hopeful he could get Luper to come with him which may have been a long shot anyways. I wouldn't undderate the Oklahoma connections either, that's a largely untapped area for us that I think has been neglected by prior coaching staffs. What's your thoughts on that?
