Those are great!  One of the best games I have ever attended...other than our HOD Bowl victory... Was attending the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia one year.  This is indeed America's Game!

Wonderful. Always happy to see our federal taxes put to good use!

I think the alumni pay a lot of the athletic expenses of the Naval Academy.  At least a guy from their message board mentioned mentioned them paying the head coach's salary, back when we played them a few years ago.

One would be naive to think that tax dollars are not used in a big way to support our service academies' athletic programs.  Most of the other money comes from defense companies such as Halliburton, United Technologies and similar.  If you tune in to the radio broadcast of a Naval Academy game, you will not hear Beth Marie's Ice Cream touted as a primary sponsor.

Maybe I'm still bitter because as a brand new lieutenant in the Air Force, a portion of my pay was automatically deducted to pay for the AFA Academy's football stadium.

I thought that "uniforms" had to be just that-UNIFORM.  I SEE 7 different helmets. How does this work ?

As I understand it, and I may have it wrong,..but it's something to do with the specific task/group each player will be assigned to that will dictate which ship's helmet they will wear?

It's set up to represent the naval vessel which coincides with the position- example given is linemen are amphibious assault ships, as LHA/LHD/LPD are the ships which projects ground force from the sea- linemen opening up holes for running backs, aircraft carrier since most command and control decisions are made from that location, etc...

Ironically, the linemen getting amphibs on their helmet is actually appropriate, since the vast majority of those guys go Marine option.

I get it.  and I think it's very cleaver.  But would it be OK if one of our players had a stylized eagle on the helmet ?  And another had the "parrot" eagle ?  And yet another had North Texas written is script ?

How about a different helmet for every winning season we've had in the last 20 years  ?  And we could play 6 man football ?  If that.

Parrots remind me of Jimmy Buffett, and Jimmy Buffett makes me want to drink. I'm okay with that.

Yet another reason I'm glad I didn't go to Shipwreck Tech, and we always make fun of those in the Annapolis Yacht Club.

Whomever -1'd me doesn't understand that USNA grads always get flack. Relax. Understand the military culture before you -1 someone.
