Step back from the edge people.  Hint: More than a few of these people are guessing or just living off of others information which is of varying quality and freshness in the first place.

I will say that if Matthew McConaughey backs out, and the Friday Night Lights coach has to wait until UNC's season is over, I hope we offer everything including the kitchen sink to Willie Fritz now that the Iowa St job isn't going his way.

Interesting tweet from this hour from somebody claiming to be Meacham's nephew: "Doug is my uncle, and the report is false, he hasn't been offered the job."

If I'm not mistaken his wife's last name is Deas. That is interesting.

True. This link says he's married to "the former Kendall Deas."

We are going to F*(% this all up!

Like there was ever a question.

Va. Tech knew they had to move quickly and did.

This is what having an idiot for an AD gets you.

I wasn't around the board for the Dodge and McCarney hires, was it as stupid as this? I can't imagine it was even close to this level of chaos.

I don't think we got a list of actual, interviewing candidates. I think we just woke up one day and got press releases.

Let's all be honest with ourselves here...

RV has already made the selection and the coach has already accepted... the AD is just waiting until Friday afternoon at 4:30PM to make the announcement. That way it gets the smallest amount of media coverage possible

Mac: there was speculation about many, many other coaches and then suddenly a name no one had ever even suggested is being announced as our head coach.

Dodge: there was early, wild and rampant speculation that a deal was being worked out with Dodge.  No one else was even seriously  bandied about.

Dickey: One day Helwig came out and dropped a carved stone tablet at our feet with one name on it:

Simon: He owned some pastureland we wanted to turn into a dorm and so we traded him the head coaches job for it.

It makes sense he has not been offered the job. Only way he says no to UNT is if Patterson is looking to move on and he gets the HC which i dont see happening! TCU can offer Cumbie stability and the $. Texas can only offer one.

Next Texas coach is Herman!

I feel like it'll be some rando HS coach at this point.

Wow, this whole thing is crazy. I can't decide whether to laugh expecting RV to put a hold on the search to perform further due diligence to ensure the right fit is ensured or cry because this is way to critical of a hire to mess up.

Exactly.  Very discouraging, unless we have an ace up the sleeve.

This is the only "ace" I see here:
